Is there a schematic way to defend the spread

without a good dline? Serious question. They spread us out with either 4 or 5 wides with no intentions of passing. In the four receiver set we would only have our 4 linemen and the middle backer(Welter), with 5 WR we at times had NO ONE in the middle. Whether we need to bring a safety in for run support and go straight man, we better figure it out because au and fla are going to do it all night too.
