from watching his new video it seems that Les wants early leads so teams will have to take chances against his defense. If we win the turnover battle going into the 4th quarter with a guy like Fournette, our big o-line, wr's, Beckwith, Godchaux & LaCouture, and DBU.....all i can say is

Les knows he is unleashing a beast in BR very soon.

Thats how he's always done it, nothing new at all. Get a lead then shut down completely... barely hang on in the end.

First drive run all the way to red zone. Kick a field goal and hang on tight.

let me get this straight...he actually is considering using our talent to our advantage. I will believe it when I see it

I don't blame him considering how many times he saw his DC give the game away in the final minute.

Let me get this straight. LSU is 2nd in Power 5 conferences in wins and 2nd in the SEC in wins since 05, but we haven't been using our "talent to our advantage"??? Is that really what you want to go with?

As to the thread, what coach doesn't want a fast start?

It's known that Chavis preferred a low-risk no turnover offense and it influenced the game plan. It doesn't surprise me that now the cancer is out of the system that we're going to evolve.

all indications are that he wants to take the handcuffs off the offense this season. Not that we are going to run some wide open style of offense but just a reasonably modern style of pro style offense that puts the QB's in better positions and situations to make plays, gives the RB's room to run, and gets the offense moving.

if Les has a strong D and some doubts at QB he'll play it close to the vest on offense to limit easy scores by the opponent. He's shown in the past that he'll open up the offense if the defense is suspect (Malveto) or if he has confidence in the QB (2005-2007, 2013). The coach before Les has the same philosophy.

So Chavis turned Miles into a later version of Phil Fullmer?

Does this mean coach O will turn Miles into a version of Pete Carroll??

I must have imagined 2013 then.

quote:

In April, we broke down how LSU's offense led the nation in third-down efficiency last season by converting for a first down or touchdown 57.1 percent of the time

quote:

The fifth-year senior's 96.7 Total Quarterback Rating on third down trailed only that of Heisman Trophy winner Jameis Winston (96.9) among FBS quarterbacks. Mettenberger was 58-for-89 for 974 yards, nine touchdowns and one interception on third down according to ESPN Stats & Information. Of those 58 completions, 21 went for 20 yards or more -- a total that was second only to Louisville's Teddy Bridgewater (22).

quote:

Landry ranked third in the FBS in third-down receptions (28), second in receiving yards (474) and tied for first with six touchdown catches according to ESPN Stats & Information.

quote:

Hill was arguably the nation's most explosive third-down back in 2013, leading the FBS with an average of 13.28 yards per carry on third down according to ESPN Stats & Information. Although dozens of players carried the ball more times on third down than Hill's 18 attempts, he ranked 10th nationally with 239 yards thanks in large part to his touchdown runs of 37, 49 and 69 yards.

there is a huge amount of dumb on this board. These people are either trolling, or really think that Les Miles doesn't know what he's doing, which is ridiculous...

It has been like this since he got here and wore the Madonna headset vs Arizona St. Then he used the phrase "We have a want." Even though that is perfectly proper English, plenty of fans went ape shite and wrote him off just because of those.
