Is Jordan Jefferson the answer?

Everyone who thinks that "lace and Gary" are holding Jordan back is crazy. The pass routes that are being ran are the same routes that were run a year ago. The difference is Jefferson is much more hesitant to throw the ball than Jarrett Lee was. Let me take that back...he's downright scared to throw a pick, and judging from his words and actions I think everyone would agree with me. I do understand his mindset, but lets be honest and say that in order to improve, he will have to fail...and I don't mean taking sacks. He is not failing the way that he needs to fail in order to progress as a quarterback. Last year vs. Florida Jarrett Lee was actually respectable...on the road with a bad defense. I'm not saying that I think Jarrett Lee is a better quarterback, but I do believe that he has improved...geez, after last year it would be impossible for him not to statistically. Fact of the matter is that Jarrett Lee kept us in the game a year ago into the 3rd quarter when the defense was downright disgusting. I think we will continue to see a trend of LSU struggling on offense and yards gained as long a jefferson is quarterback. However, he does have a nack of just doing enough and not hurting us too much and allowing our defense and special teams to win games...which has happened so far. It does get sometimes hard to watch though, and he'll never be a consistent passing threat down the field. On the other hand, Lee has exibited flashes of being a great quarterback someday, even though he has also been equally as bad at times. I definately think the ceiling is higher for Jarrett Lee to be better when it's all said and done. Nonetheless, the difference in Jefferson and Lee is certainly not reflected in the playing time so far this year.
10/10/09 Jordan Jefferson (home game after 6 starts ) - 11/17 96 yards 0 TD 1 int.
Last year vs. Florida, Jarrett Lee(on the road after 2 starts) - 23/36 203 yards 2 TD 2 Int.
Come on People...Brett Favre throws tons of picks...the dude was a freshman...and it's not his fault that our offense can't tackle.

Yes...if the question is "What's wrong with the LSU offense?"

Too early to tell if JJ is the deal or not. Right now, he has the deer in the headlights program working against him. He takes too long and doesn't seem to see the field of receivers. He either needs to develop further, or he's reached his apex - and, it's not good enough.
We need a QB with a quick drop and release with this offensive line. I don't know if Lee or Shepard are the answer, but we will never know unless they get a chance to toss a few.

Jordan Jefferson=Not the answer

I hate confusing a team and throwing them all for a loop, but here's the way I see it:
With two weeks to prepare, the OL and QB positions MUST show a good bit of improvement. If not, changes need to be made at both.

Brings to mind an old adage.....if you haven't failed at something at least once then you ain't trying

There are bigger problems then just Jefferson. We have no pass protection, we have no running game, and the playcalling is terrible. You think if we just put Lee in, the offense will magically start scoring points? We need to run Shepard more, he has been our most consistent runner this year, the few times he's gotten the ball.

LSU should be in a better position at QB! Coaches are to blame for not having a QB good enough or ready enough to play in the SEC.
That is the bottom line both LSU QB's are below average at best.

Hatch= not the answer;
Lee= not the answer;
Jefferson=not the answer.
Atleast the last two are young and showed remarkably little progression, especially in footwork, reading defenses, not staring down the receivers, etc.One can argue they actually digressed.
Befroe thousands boo Jefferson off the field like the did with Lee and render HIM a basket case, should we ask a question of two about coaching of the QB's?

OL is the problem as knowledgeable LSU fans recognize. Just like the sports writers know it and write it, Miles knows it and says, and even the offensive players like Hebert and Scott say the blocking isn't good enough. 'nuff said!

Then blame Miles for not having recruited or coached the Oline good enough.

it isn't magic. we scored lots last year because we took chances down the field. the defenses had to respect it, and it helps everything else. you can't be timid and play qb in this league

That's reality. But it's also reality that 93,000 fans wanted to guillotine Jarret Lee during the 2008 season. If an LSU QB isn't Heisman caliber after his first four or five games, he's finished.

For the record JJ kept us in the game until the 4th quarter this year.
Clearly he was less than good, but my money is still on JJ...for now.

The defense kept us in the game not JJ... Tell me one thing JJ did to help us win Saturday...

Well, if JJ continues to struggle. IMO, the coaches won't have a choice. I was amazed last year that JL made it as long as he did until he cracked. I don't think JJ is as thick skinned as JL. If the crowd turns against JJ, I think he will melt before your eyes.
I'd love to see a 2 QB system right now. Both QB's are young and both bring something different to the offense. Ride the hot hand and get both experience while doing so.
