Is it a law now that LSU and Bama both get a bye week before the game?

I think four teams this year scheduled their bye week before the Alabama game. Didn't research it but that's what I heard. But yes it does seem that Alabama and LSU always schedule their bye week before playing each other and that is not by accident.

League office controls league schedule, schools have no control over conference schedule

True but LSU absolutely schedules the bye week. Bama does the same for LSU.
