Why does he continue to do this? Wouldn't it be better to use the same guys for your midweek games and let them go 5-6 innings to build up to be the 4th and 5th guys for when we need pitching depth in Hoover and/or Omaha?

When you use Wholestaff and get to Omaha and land in a losers bracket game, you're out of pitching with no developed 4th guy to carry you because we've let 4-5 guys all pitch ~15 pitches/outing.

I'm probably over thinking it.

Because it's blacked out in Baton Rouge?

Midweek, early season. What the frick do you expect? You think he knows already who will be the best pitchers without playing a single game?

I don't think he was planning on a wholestaff approach. Kiel was struggling, and Strall was getting rocked. It's also a 5 game week and he probably wants to have Gilbert this weekend.

I'm watching it on CST in Baton Rouge.

I'll rephrase it for you then.

Know how I know you haven't listened to the game, read anything on it or looked at the rant thread and came here and made an uninformed post?

We don't know who will be our starters yet. We need to get our 4 starters in place and develop a bullpen. We have been lacking in both SP depth and bullpen in recent years. This team has a ton of talent but production from the pitching staff must improve. Can't rely on Posche and Lange all year.

It's February. Gilbert looks to be a good option as weekday starter but got to have bullpen arms behind him and honestly this is how you find out what you have. It's ugly but it happens.

UF lost to a fcs school tonight to put things in perspective.

CPM wasn't even using the "Johnny Wholestaff" approach.

He had Gilbert in there who started struggling so he pulled him. Normally, he leaves a guy in there too long, but this time was about right. Of course, looking back, it may have been too early, but hindsight is 20/20. So, Strall comes in and abso-fricking-lutely sucked a big huge one. He probably left him in a little long, but he had to get his guy warmed up.

Reynolds gets warm after Strall gives up a million hits, so he pulls Strall. That takes us to where we currently are with Reynolds, who isn't looking too hot either.

Eta - I feel like I forgot a reliever but I can't remember right now.

Eta2 - I forgot Kiel, my bad. My head started hurting around the 5th
