Is CJJ using academics to save his job?

The men's basketball team had a really long break so that the players could focus on academics at the end of their semester. Other schools have breaks for this same reason but none as long as LSU. I have seen a lot of other teams playing games during LSU's long layoff.

Is CJJ trying to raise the team's GPA as much as possible or ensure academic success so that he can use academics as a reason to keep him?

The layoff is due to the # of OOC games played.

We scheduled one less than we are allowed to schedule. I don't know why Jones would choose to do that, it makes no sense.

Did a team backout of a contract last year and we did not re-schedule?

Not that I can remember, but that's certainly possible.

He's taken an extended break each year during finals. This isn't necessarily anything new, though 14 days is the longest break he's taken.

On the one hand you wonder why LSU needs to take such a long break considering other schools can somehow find a way to make finals work without taking 10-14 days off. However, I can understand him wanting to make sure EVERYONE passes the first semester so he won't lose anyone for the second.

I posted about this last week. He has never taken this much time off. It is usally 10-12 days off between games. This year it will be 14 days off without play. That is too much IMO.

Yep. That's what I wanted to know after Auburn beat us. What's Miles players graduate rate?

Apparently they did have a game scheduled that fell through, they probably would have played Fri
It is a long time between games, not sure why the dead period only really affects men's and women's hoops.

It's always the same time off during finals they just usually play Saturday night at 7.

The break is too long, but hopefully they use it wisely.

My biggest problem with the scheduling is the paucity of quality, resume building OOC opportunities.

It seems like we're hiding from the public. No big out of conference games. No games while others are making a case for their RPI's, getting TV exposure, etc..

Another dumpster fire.

LSU has done this for several years. They avoid scheduling games around exams, there may actually be a university requirement.

This is not new, go back and look at the last few years schedules and you can see this break has always been there.

We will play the same number of games that everyone else plays. No, it shouldn't save JJ's job, he should have been gone last year, but we all know how good Alleva is at handling coaches.
