Also, I just want to clarify that I don't HATE Roy King in the slightest but he was not s good band director. I'm merely stating this because I'm sick of everyone talking poorly about Dr. Llinas. I literally read posts on Facebook from people that said they wanted tiger band to fail...you can be Pro-Roy but not anti tiger band. It's actually possible.

Maybe you don't know Llinas like I know him. He is immature and self centered. He talks down to people in an effort to assert himself, etc. At least that is what I picked up from talking to him several times and watching him interact with others. Believe me when I say...HE IS IN OVER HIS HEAD....and the LSU band we all love will pay the price.

Supposedly he is only the interim director. I'm hoping that LSU will at least attempt to hire a proven director, but based on what we've seen from F. King and his cronies, I'm not overly optimistic. The sooner Alexander is gone, the better off LSU will be.

Llinas had a MAJOR role in Roy's dismissal (details will come out later)....Dennis is scum.

If you're gonna trash someone publicly, at least have the balls to say what they're accused of.

Also I want to say that someone said in the group they wanted the directors to fail...so how do the directors fail without the actual band failing? ??

If Llinas is in over his head, why did Roy let him run almost every single music rehearsal while he was there? And I've known Llinas for the last five years and he's never spoken down to me so maybe you don't know him like I know him...anywho, at least Llinas didn't leave his concert ensemble for a concert to go do FMEA and let the graduate assistants take over the entire concert...

Sorry I took so long to reply...I had to contact person who REALLY knows the facts. The wording you cited is correct for the Golden Oaks scholarship for the rest of campus, but NOT for the Tiger Band. Tiger Band members had to pass an audition, have a 3.0 high school GPA and a 26 on the ACT (not the 30 as you have cited). Remember what I said earlier....Golden Oaks (for Tiger Band members ONLY) used to be called "Tiger Band Honors Scholarship." According to the band secretary I spoke with, there were about 80 Tiger Band students on this SPECIAL TIGER BAND SCHOLARSHIP.
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE know your facts BRF

They aren't as spaced as they usually are for gameday. That's why it may look like less people.

Wrong.....she was ousted from the Band area at Illinois (she works in the admissions office) and does not preside over any band.

Well, I stand corrected. That's an interesting development. I wonder if LSU could get her back?

Looks like the Tiger band is about 10 percent smaller overall this year. There are only 290 members (including golden girls and flags) based on the victory hill practice video. The main problem is that the band has lost many brass instruments and picked up more woodwinds. The trumpets alone are down over 20 percent. The tubas are down near 20 percent. While woodwinds are up by 10 percent. That is not a good sign.
