The first thing that stands out is that Derrius Guice is averaging 7.8 YPC, which would be the best YPC in LSU history if not for LF's current 8.7 YPC clip. The team as a whole is averaging 7.1 YPC. That's insane, especially when you consider the ineffectiveness of the passing game to date. Every team we have faced has sold out everything to stop the run, with no success.

quote:

FLA GAME UPDATE: Derris is up to 8.6 YPC. The team as a whole is down slightly at 6.9 YPC. Leonard is now at 8.0 YPC. With the vast improvement in the passing game the last two weeks, this does not bode well for opponents.

Now, on to Leonard. It is possible (though not probable) that he could enter the Top 10 rushing seasons in LSU history this week, in Game 5. He needs 271 to supplant Dalton Hilliard at No. 10, 281 to pass Kevin Faulk's 1997 season at No. 9 and 284 to pass Stevan Ridley's big 2010 season at No. 8.

Even more surreal is what he can do the following week against Florida in Game 6. If he averages slightly below his current per game average in the next two games, he could very well be No. 3 on the all-time list, supplanting Kevin Faulk's best season at No. 3. To get there, he needs 419 yards.

quote:

FLA GAME UPDATE: OK. So, he didn't quite average that the last two weeks. At 1,202, his season currently sits at No. 6 all time. However, he ought to surpass the next three early in the game this week. He needs just 81 yards to eclipse Kevin Faulk's best season and put him at No. 3 all-time. He could conceivably get past Jeremy Hill's monster 2013 season with exactly 200 yards against W KY.

Still a little ways before he gets to Charles Alexander of 1977. He needs 823 more yards, which at his current clip, he would do in Game 8.

quote:

FLA GAME UPDATE: He needs 485 yards to achieve the best rushing season in LSU history. I would expect this to occur at home against Arkansas the week after the Bama game, during only the 9th game of the season. Simply remarkable.

One more thing, he currently has the third, sixth and ninth best rushing games in LSU history...in his last three games. For comparison, Kevin Faulk had one 200-yard game in each of his four years at LSU.

quote:

FLA GAME UPDATE: One more tidbit. He is currently at a career YPC of 6.6. The LSU record books require a RB to have at least 400 career carries to get on this list, so Jeremy Hill didn't make it. Leonard is currently at 337 career carries, so he will most assuredly have this record by a mile (OK, really by 1.14 YPC over the current No. 1 Charles Scott, who had a career YPC of 5.46). Just for the sake of argument: Jeremy Hill would be No. 1 on the list but for the 400 carry minimum with a career YPC of 6.25 on 345 carries. So Fournette is well ahead of him as well.

The last thing to remember about Leonard is that he really was expected to be the MAN as a true freshman, and did not have the luxury that Hill did of being behind guys like Ford, Ware and Blue in his freshman year.

I really wanna see him get 2000 yards but I think November will make it tough on him.

Wish that McNeese St. game wouldn't have been cancelled. The numbers would be even more surreal.
