No topic of worth on the rant, had to start one...

I've been watching football since 2001 and this is the first time I've seen a truly elite RB, I'm surprised to see some of the in-direct impact a Fournette like back has on the game, outside of just running stats. Not all of them can be 100% attributed to LF7 but just his presence lifts the team in different ways..

Here's few I can think of....

1) Makes up for inadequacies in other areas and allows them to get better on their own timeline (for ex: QB-Harris, WRs getting better)

2) Gives the team swagger...team is relaxed, calm and confident and it shows in the play (very few turn-overs)

3) Opposing teams use dirty tactics (out of bounds hits, face-masks) which help out the offense

4) Opposing coaches and players plan for Fournette extensively and may not plan enough for talented backs like Guice/Williams

What are some of the things you've noticed?

Helps the defense by chewing up yards and the clock; keeping the opposing offense on the bench.

Fournette is incredible but I think you have to include Peterson and Reggie Bush if you're going back to 2001. Each was just as dynamic as Fournette with Bush in a different mold than the other two.

Allows for other offensive opportunities, QB keeper, play action pass, tight end should be open every play as linbackers are keying on him. Of course this don't work if the QB turns and pitches to him.

Being able to run the ball just takes all the fight out the opposing team. They know it's coming, they plan for it, but still can't stop it. Play after play getting hit in the mouth, it's demoralizing.

Darren McFadden is certainly in that category, as was healthy Todd Gurley

How did a four year old get an account on Tigerdroppings before I did?

I agree with both of these. Healthy Todd Gurley immediately came to mind. As well as AP and Reggie. Marshawn Lynch is in that category. I would probably put a healthy Marcus Lattimore in that category as well.

"Healthy Todd Gurley"... lol... what's that? As a LSU fan stuck in GA, I can say if you blow on Gurley the wrong way he gets hurt.

Maurice Clarett led OSU to a championship as a freshman in 2002. He was elite that season.
