Who has done the best job of coaching his team? Maybe not totally scientific, but looking at who was thought to be the "better team" in comparison to the result.

2007 - Saban - Bama plays NC LSU team close in Tuscaloosa

2008 - Miles - Worst LSU team in decade takes Gumps to OT.

2009 - Miles - Gumps needed the blown replay call, cheap hit on Jefferson and PP cramps to win.

2010 - Miles - LSU upset winner

2011 - Miles - we beat the "greatest team ever" in the "game of the century" on their home field.

1-9 - An empty popcorn box outcoached Miles in that game.

Just my .02, but considering in 4 of 5 regular season matchups Miles has gotten his team to play over it's head vs the Saban's team, I like our chances. I like the motivation of 1-9. I like all of the disrespect from the national pundits and even the own fair-weathers in our fanbase.

We have one of, if not the best defenses in the country. Our backs are against the wall. We have something to prove while the Gumps are busy reading their own press clippings and think it will be a cakewalk like 1-9. We've had two weeks to prepare. While from a long-term, susstainable offesive development perspective Miles has never shown much, he always seems to have a penchant for a trick or wrinkle at just the right time.

And most importantly, it's Saturday night in Death Valley. Where Gump Dreams come to die.

I'm feeling better and better about this game.

Bama, Bama, Bama won't you bite my arse!

Not sure about 2008. We went undefeated but that was after a 7-6 year and won on the road in a hostile environment. I might agree with the rest.
Here's how us Bama fans feel about.

might be reaching here. Alabama was winning when the blown call took place, and lsu wasn't doing shite against bama offensively

It's funny when you watch other team's highlight reels. It looks like Jarrett Lee threw 57 INTs and Bama won 100-0.

Agree... The Tigers will have the eye of the tiger. They will be pumped and must hit bama in the mouth early and never let up.

this game gives me hope. Jarrett Lee threw four interceptions and we still almost won.

I think the OP has it right.

In 2008, Bama only lost 2 games--to eventual MNC Florida and Utah, when they didn't want to play. LSU, on the other hand was in the middle of a pick-sixapalooza of a year. Miles clearly coached them up for that one.

Similarly, in 2009 Bama won the MNC, while the next week we would watch the clock buffoonery in Oxford. Bama was overall the better team, but LSU was in the game much later than they were expected to be.

Another thing about 2008 is that we had those disastrous co-DCs. Now we have the chief

Whether or not LSU would have won had the PP INT been called correctly, my point is the aww-shucks guy in the funny hat who eats grass has outcoached the slick, has his image pimped by espn, got highlights in his hair plugs wondererboy.

And don't forget, by the end of the game we were on our second string qb (Lee) and 3rd string running back (Ridley) because JJ, Charles Scott and Keiland Williams had all been injured during the course of the game. And STILL were in it!
