From October 12:

quote:

Pro-style QB recruiting: Asked about LSU’s perceived inability to recruit or develop quarterbacks under Les Miles, Orgeron made clear that he plans to recruit pro-style quarterbacks and prefers to recruit pro-style quarterbacks from Louisiana. LSU signed 17 quarterback in Miles’ 12-year tenure – nine pro-style quarterbacks and eight dual-threat quarterbacks. “I want a pro-style quarterback,” Orgeron said. “Louisiana has been rich in quarterbacks and pro-style quarterbacks. … We’re going to go anywhere in the country that we need to get them, but we’re going to look at Louisiana first.

Today, he touts a spread system with a dual threat QB. Totally contradicted himself. Telling the masses what they want to hear but not actually feeling that way. Where have I seen that before?

Well, today's pro style QB is what we're looking for. Prescott, Mariota, Russell Wilson

Does that loosely translate to "yaw yaw football"?

Because Pro-Style QBs are what work in the current system. Now he's got a whole program under his belt and an opportunity to make it his own going forward.

Sounds like he wants a pro style offense but the boss wants something different..if he wants to keep his job he's gonna have to adjust.

Need a passer who can run rather than a runner who can throw.

Geez. We ridicule one coach too hardheaded to change and another because he's willing to change.
What in watching bama the last 5 years convinces you that a pro style system can consistently beat them?
To beat bama, you must spread them out and have a qb that is a running threat.

Well at least he's obviously open to change. Unlike his predecessor. Look you don't like the hire I get it, and I'm sure you will be here for the next 3-4 years every time something bad happens on the playing field to tell us how horrible O is.

Am I the only person who thinks Etling is plenty mobile enough for some "spread looks" to be added in?

Good find!

It'll be interesting to see the change in offensive philosophy, but I'd think it's all predicated on who is selected as coordinator.

Personally, I'm a fan of the pro set offense. I hope LSU doesn't totally abandon the power run, but instead just incorporates spread principles into their offensive schemes.

We ridicule one coach for saying things were going to change (remember Miles and Cam studying the spread?) and then doing nothing.

Coach O states his affinity for a pro style offense and then does a complete 180 today and says he wants and entirely different offense. Well which is it? Frankly I felt the October interview is what he really likes. Today he told people what they want to hear.

O went 5-2 with the most talented team he will ever coach at LSU during his short tenure here. If he is 5-2 with the talent LSU is putting on the fi er ls this year how and the he'll are they better today making O permanent head voach.

He says he plans on bringing in Lane Kiffin to be his OC & QB coach.

What QB has Kiffin put in the NFL? Carlson,Lionhart, Sanchez and Kessler were all devoloped by Sark who was the QB coach and OC at USC once Kiffin left for NFL.

O want hire Sark since it wsd,Sark who got his USC job over him after he replaced Kiffin.
Kodi Kessler looked night and day different from playing under Kiffin and Sark.

I think Nick is praying we take Kiffin off his hands.

I think he understands now after preparing for bama and Florida defenses that even with a record setting offense (you can't deny what the Lsu running game accomplished under O) and seeing that the difference in the bama game was a run threat qb.

You have to have a running threat qb to beat bama!

Ething is mobile enough to been able to boot leg for the goal line in that lad t series of the Florida game.

Play action fake to FB ROLL Ething and Guide out to corner of endzone. Either Florida takes Guide away or ETLING scrambles for winning score.

We will never know as we ran it four times from the bunch formation playing into the strength of Florida defense..
