immobile qb who can pass, or dual threat who can't pass
Posted by CatsGoneWild on 11/21/14 at 1:18 am317
Which type of qb would you rather have? In the NFL, a immobile white guy impresses me more than dual threats. I would rather have a qb who can stand in the pocket and complete a good percentage of passes, than someone who can't pass and barely can run. Why don't we recruit better at qb?

Is this a serious question?

No such thing as a "dual threat" if he can't pass.

There really aren't a lot of guys that meet your description.
the top 2 QBs in this draft will be Mariota (dual threat form hawaii) and Winston (dual threat form alabama)
Not a ton of high level pocket passers coming out of high school right now.
What i really want is QB that completely every throw and can rush for all the yards.
Why can't we recruit one of those?

dual threat who can't pass

Say what you want but, a offense designed to fit Brandon Harris would be very difficult to stop.

I know our qb's aren't "real dual threats, but they and JJ were labeled as them. I would take a ZM any day over our last 3 dual threats. Why is it osu has luck with all their dual threats?

Manziel is one. You could probably put Tebow into that category.
Like we say frequently on here, there's no need to recruit a QB that can't throw a ball into Lake Pontchartrain while standing on the Causeway. We don't GAF how fast a QB can run. We'd much rather 5.2 40 Statues back there that can read defenses, go through progressions and deliver the football into the hands of our WR, TE's and RB's.

If LSU's coaching staff would have focused on developing a legit spread attack with Harris and continued to using the power run game with Jennings we would be in the top four. Balance is what this offense is lacking and if Miles would have stuck to his "we need two qb's to win" mantra we would have that balance.

Jefferson was the 8th ranked pro style QB. Miles turned him into a running QB.

Don't know, but they have for years now even before Meyer got there. JT Barrett is the kind of dual threat I want though. Accurate passer that can also make things happen on the ground.

He's no threat if he doesn't run either.

If my memory serves me correctly, JJ may have been a "pro-style" QB, but he played primarily like 90+% out of the gun in HS like most HS QBs this day and time.
And JJ never wowed me with his running ability. I can count on maybe one hand where he broke loose for huge gains and one of them was the TN game. I just think he was a mobile guy when he wanted to be, but that was not his strong suit.

Why would we need Jennings in the game to run a power running attack at all though?

If take a big, slow, white dude anyday over what LSU has now. Especially for the offense LSU runs. Jennings and Harris are like trying to fit a square leg into a round whole.

We don't! I was just going off of Miles's two qb system. This is the only way I see Jennings getting any playing time, because there is no way in hell he would be more efficient in a spread attack than Harris.

We don't need a dual threat QB. We need a QB that pass the ball and occasionally scramble when the protection breaks down.

what a retarded question
re: immobile qb who can pass, or dual threat who can't passPosted by pabgolf on 11/21/14 at 7:45 am to SammyTiger
The true definition according to past NFL quarterback of dual threat quarterback is "inaccurate passer". That is why they become dual threat, more athletic and able to do things with their feet better than with their arm.
They should be able to hit wide open receivers and throw the 15-20 yard pass somewhat accurately.
