Just for fun to discuss a hypothetically situation.....

As game time nears, let' say there is a large area of rain moving toward the area. It is pretty much a foregone conclusion that rain will begin in about the 3rd inning and there will be a fairly lengthy delay.

Do you use your bullpen until the rain delay, then come back with the starter for the rest of the game? Thinking about this scenario looking at the rain west and south of Baton Rouge with the possibility of only using Eric Walker for only a couple of innings.

If we do that...I assume it will be Peterson who gets the start. Hopefully it doesn't come to that though.

No. Bullpen is almost full with available arms. Start Walker.

True. I think Gilbert is the only guy that probably can't pitch tonight.

you could do that and it MIGHT work and it MIGHT backfire. releivers are in the pen for a reason, many are not adept at handling the butterflies that starters go through. and then, after the rain delay you put walker in and an inning or two later it friggin' rains again.

when it comes to the weather, mother nature is the boss.

Hopefully they can get the game in(even with weather delays if needed), because the weather is going to be just as bad on Monday & Tuesday.

It's not supposed to clear up until Wednesday.

It looks like the large rain shield is shrinking. May have to endure a couple of one hour delays. All rain may go away once the sun goes down. It sure makes it difficult in the pitching decisions. May be another late night.

I don't know--I would think Gilbert and Peterson could go a couple of innings. Gilbert only threw 47 pitches---similar to a typical mid week practice session. He has two days rest. Peterson could go as long as we need him.

I've got a hypothetical...Walker goes 3 today (all o's), game resumes on Tuesday and Hess goes 4 (all 0's), and Newman cruises for the last 6 outs to complete the 51hr NO NO. I'll go ahead and set my DVR for the ESPN Top 10 on Tuesday night!

What ignorant people keep scheduling games here so late during this time of the year? You would think that they would start them as early as possible pending weather in Louisiana during the spring/Summer.

They could have started Rice vs slu today at noon
And our game around 5/6

Damn that would have been a bitch for Rice to have to play Texas and SLU

I bet the start of the game gets delayed. CPM will probably try to get this thing to not start if it seems rain is imminent early in the game. If I'm Rice, I'm throwing a fit to start this game if at all possible. Rice would benefit greatly from LSU burning a starter.
