Get off Harris's jock. He is a friggin FIRST-TIME STARTER!!!!!!
Guess what, first time starters show flashes of brilliance while at other times making bonehead plays. They drive you crazy. We have only had TWO first-time starters in the last 30 years who kicked arse- Tommy Hodson and Rohan Davey.
Lets us look at the others.
Josh Booty: Showed talent but how many dumb mistakes did he make his first year to start? Bama, anyone?
Mauck. Everyone's hero. People forget he looked like crap during his first season to start until the Florida game. He sucked during the Virginia Tech game. He sucked so bad during MSU game that Saban quit passing at halftime and ran the ball the whole second half. Then the lightbulb, the in-game instincts, and the football reflexes all turned on during the Florida game.. until the end.
Randall. A warrior. He never quit but he consistently made bonehead plays. He was probably better suited for being a db.
Jamarcus Russell. He made plenty of bone-head plays during 2004. He brought us back against OSU and won the game for us. Then he has three turnovers against Florida and we get bailed out by Randall. He played lights out at times and like a rookie at others. Guess what? he was a first time starter.
Matt Flynn. Finally starts his senior year. Go look at the first half of the season. He really didn't start clicking with receivers until middle of the season. Wasn't exactly lights out until then.
Jarrett Lee. Yes, its Lee. His first season? The pick six game. But everyone forgets Troy where he brought us back to win when the game was over. A perfect example of a quarterback being ruined by starting too soon. However, he had a damn good senior year until he was jerked around by Miles when Jefferson was able to play. Notice the offense and receivers quit developing when he went to the bench.
Jefferson. Made bonehead plays all three years.
Mett. Same thing. Made bonehead plays. Then woke up during the Bama game. We know the rest of the story.
Jennings. Played like a first year starter but got worse as the year progressed. A top notch coach like you know who and Bear would have already looked at getting more qbs and then switching him to defense where he would probably be pretty good.
Harris. He throws a nice deep ball. Needs work on the short and backfield passes..... as did Jamarcus his first year. Period. He has a strong arm and needs to learn touch. Problem is the scheme doesn't allow for much practice and well, the offensive situation has been discussed to death. This is his first year to start.
Harris has the skills. Players like him and he is a warrior at heart. He doesn't quit and handles adversity. He just needs time and coaching to develop. Oh, experience as well. He can do it but damn, get off of his back. He is a first time starter and playing like one. Be a little more forgiving. He won't make these same mistakes as a senior.

Thank you. Harris will be a damn good QB his senior year.

he got such little seasoning last year that he's basically a RS frosh
with proper development he could be one of the best in the league by the end of next season. look how allen improved at arkansas over a three-year period.

I won't blame a QB walking onto that field as long as Miles is still the coach.

I agree and I think Harris has shown far more positives than negatives and he will be a very good QB the next 2 seasons. I think the issue for fans is to see freshmen/sophomore QB's all over the country come in and sling it all over the field. See Ohio St last season. Insert QB after QB and not miss a beat.

This is the only correct response.

System qbs. See Green Bay. See Florida under Spurrier.

This coaching staff is not capable of developing QB's. Keep bringing up Hodson. So apples and oranges. Why do we have the worst passing game in D1 football with our talent? Because Harris is a sophomore? If that's your answer you are a lost cause.

Absolutely, but that doesn't excuse the fact that he has difficulty hitting basic throws that an FCS quarterback can make.

Doesn't matter what class he is in. He is a first-time starter.

Other teams are successful with young QBs. I just don't get it. I think Harris is mediocre but he didn't have a lot of time last night.

Bama seems to do fine every year with first time starters

Thank you. Harris will be a damn good QB his senior year.

I love Harris and think he's just a coaching staff overhaul away from being highly successful.

Coker has made his share of bonehead plays this year. So have others. How many jokes have y'all made about Bama qb's?

When you win a national championship you usually get a pass for your mistakes.

Not only that but our O line was pathetic in pass blocking the last 2 games. I mean PATHETIC!!

This excuse and the "we are young" excuse has gotten old
Recent notable successful 1st year full time starters
Will Grier (UF 2015)
Coker (Bama 2015)
Sims (Bama 2014)
Watson (Clemson 2015)
Kiser (ND 2015)
Seth Russell (Baylor 2015)
Winston (2013 Heisman)
I can go on and on...

I AGREE IT IS NO WAY THE KIDS FAULT
These kids are the finest cream of the crop. It's not Harris who calls the fukn I formation every fricking week.
Its the coaches.
Congrats on Guice for finally having 1-2 good returns.
If we would have won lastnight it would have been because of Harris and #7
