to slow down an agressive blizting defense?

My biggest concern is taking sacks

bootlegs, rollouts, zone reads, max protect throws outta the I, the wildcat. of course I call for those things every week....

eta: there's this sprint draw that Ole Miss runs to McCluster and that TE shovel that UF does with Hernandez that I'd probably steal as well

Definitely lots of option plays to the weak side of the field.

I think Parsons will be beneficial in this aspect. He will give us a big body with blocking exp. Will really help with the play actions. also run slants and roll outs. Would like to see an option pass too.

a healthy dose of Lee to (fill-in-the-blank). Air it and let them run to it. With our athletes at WR, we win.

If i was attacking the bama defense this would be my route:

1.) DONT RUN AT CODY, Period no questions asked! I would run off tackle with some of the shiftier backs like SHep or Williams. I believe there style of running will have more sucess against this Bama D. Ridley I think would be the best style runner against Bama but we all know that aint happening.

2.) Plenty of screen, to slow down Bama biltz.

3.) Lots of PLay ACtion to start the game. LSU cant establish the run by running. SO against Bama im using the play action to set up Scottt WIlliams etc.

4.)Never leave Jefferson in the back field alone in the shotgun. 5 wide or anything that leave Jeff alone in the backfield is a bad idea.

5.) Im going deep on the first offensive play off of play action!

I don't know if $$$$$ will risk blitzing that much. He knows LSU has big, fast wide receivers. He doesn't have a corner who can come close to matching up with any of them.

Besides, with Cody in the middle, he won't have to unless T-Bob has the game of his life.

Now, if he does, the one thing that has ALWAYS been a weakness in his defenses is the delayed release of a running back right up the middle. The only problem with that is I have yet to see Crowton release a back to the middle of the field. He only sends backs on swing and wheel routes to the outside.

A simple drag route across the middle also works.

The key will if JJ can recognize when the blitz is coming and stand in there with his eyes downfield to find the open man.

We had success running on Cody last year in TS...

#1 thing i'd like to see though: more Jefferson roll-outs. Our "may be the best" offensive line (referring to Miles quote ) IS good at one thing: Moving. Use their smaller size to advantage and move the line of scrimmage!

I think LSU runs and throws best out of the "pistol" formation. Im surprised we dont use that formation more.

But I also want to see Parsons at FB in the I formation....if it doesnt work a few times early then abandon it..but it may be effective.
