and you witnessed that display of ineptitude by your QB. What type of plays would you feel comfortable calling, when it's no telling what they hell you are going to get from play to play. 5 yard outs and stop routes can't be completed on a regular basis. Put in Etling. What do we have to lose.

I'd run my zone read stuff that I've seen him actually competently run.

Makes you wonder how much worse Etling must look in practice, right? Unless of course you're actually stupid enough to believe the coaches would keep the better QB on the bench.

harris threw a strike to dural but dural was held on the play so instead of a touchdown it was a 10 yard penalty.

Etling was dinged up so wasn't available for Wisky. And we all know from Jefferson, Jennings and now Harris that what happens in practice has no correlation to the game. Either the judgment is wrong, or it just doesn't carry over.

What will it take for some of you to realize, THE QB IS NOT THE PROBLEM.

This staff has constantly put the QBs in terrible situations and blamed inexperience. The whole damn O is broken. There is no "plan", just a collection of plays called haphazardly.

Look how Jimbo was able to do thinks like move the pocket and create situations for his FRESHMAN QB to be successful.

Exactly! Harris, and even Jennings came to LSU with talent. Jennings looked great during the game winning drive against Arky. Harris looked great during the attempted comeback against MS St. What happened when they became the starting QB? They regressed b/c Les handcuffed them and the play calling.

I'm sorry you don't get it..

It's not the QB man.. It's the culture. They will all look the same under this current system.. unless they are a Senior..

If I was the OC I would spread the field out for my DT qb to run and gun.. something he is comfortable doing.. and I'd still give my rb 18 touches a game.. Go rewatch the end of the Mississippi st game when Harris comes in with only 3 minutes left and is allowed to ball.
LINK He makes some really great throws.

Harris was 12/21.

By my count there were four balls that should been caught that were dropped.

He should have been 16/21. The interception was bad but he made a great move to avoid the sack. I'm not giving up on him yet.

Yeah, Malone was horrible in pass protection as well. I just don't know seeing your qb throw high on simple 5 yard routes.....what coach would be comfortable allowing the qb to throw the ball downfield. Watching the Georgia, texas, notre dame, florida state game,,,,just made me yearn for the days of Russell, Flynn (hell Perriloux(sp) and Mettenberger(sp).

Les won't do it unless Harris gets injured.

I would question my ability as a coach. If Harris couldn't make those throws in high school, why did LSU recruit him. I would question my OC/QB coach why our quarterbacks seem to regress. I would question my ability as a coach to evaluate high school qb's because most of them become very average once they run the LSU offense

If Harris is the best option available I would create/build a offense that highlights his strengths and not exploit his weaknesses.

He could, and he did. He was highly recruited by better offensive minds than Les and Cam. Les wants a robot at QB, and that's what we have.

uh, no. Most of those incompletions weren't close. Sure, Dupre could've helped out Harris with a couple great catches, but those balls were poorly thrown.

Harris earned his 12 for 21.

this is Coaching 101, but our staff doesn't do it.

It truly makes me wonder what our coaches spend their time on. Honest question.

You know that bullshite line that people like to spout off about wide receivers: "if you can get a hand on the ball, it should be caught"?

It's just that: bullshite.

QB's need to put the ball in spots where the receiver can make the catch without risking leaving the field on a stretcher. This also helps the receiver catch in stride for yards after the catch.

Unless it's a fade route or something like that, WRs should NOT be jumping and/or cutting their route short to catch the football.

If the WR can help out his QB and make a great catch, that's fantastic. But those should be the exceptions, not the rule.

If I'm a head coach and my QB has gotten significantly worse in year 3, then I'm firing whoever is in charge of developing him.

Someone posted an article with detailed game film analysis that disagrees with you.

I will go back and find the link later.. but the short version of his analysis is that there were 3 catchable passes that were dropped by the receivers.

Analysis also indicated that pass protection on 1/3rd of the pass plays was just pathetic resulting in QB hurries and so forth.

There is no question Harris has still got room for improvement. And, that Interception at the end of the game was a poor decision (I assume) from him panicking.

Fact is there is a great deal of blame to go around for the offensive display Saturday.

Edit: Here is the link LINK

The definition of catchable can be disputed. Harris has to be able to hit a 6'4 target within a reasonable spot.
