Poor Florida, they are a carbon copy of what we witnessed in Tiger Stadium the last few years with our team. Hard core, tough, physical defense with a frustrating underwhelming offense. Hats off to the Florida D, they are good up front and held their own against one of the more powerful offenses we have ever run out on the field. Great job LSU.

The requisite White Tiger flame on CLM. The same White Tiger that predicted a UF win.

I agree 100% with this post. The two true freshmen cornerbacks change the whole defensive landscape. Their ability to cover one on one will allow us to put more pressure on the QB by blitzing the safeties and linebackers. LSU DBU!

What if Odell dropped a punt? What if 55 didn't pick up a stunt? What if 84 had run the wrong route? It's in everyone's hands to play winning or losing football. Who does the win go to? The team, man. The team!

by going old school smashmouth, Miles challenged our weakest areas, O-line and Defense to step up big time. Those guys were light years better tonight, maybe because Miles and his coaching staff put the game on their shoulders and challenged them to get the job done. It was probably a bit of a gamble, but it worked like a charm. Those guys are so proud now. They tasted the sweet satisfaction of delivering a W to the team. Mett thanked the defense after the game and admitted the offense did not have its "A" game. He promised the offense would hold up its end next game. We should have scored at least 14 more, but the defense took up the slack and made 17 points enough. This win brought this team together for the first time, offense and defense.

by far the best post i've seen on here about last nights game. good job sir!

i promised myself i would never respond to your stupid posts again but here i am. you are certainly unique in your adamant hate for LSU coaches and also consistent with finding some area to be uber critical. last night our very young, shallow depthed defense, the one that had to replace EIGHT starters, and had by far their best game of the year and you choose to berate our DC because he plays someone you don't want him to.

you think you know more than john chavis, les miles and our other coaches. and you don't attend the practices and probably never played football at a high level. if you had any cred at all with anyone on this planet before this inane post, you've lost it now.

i swear i will never read your posts again no matter how humorous it is to marvel at your stupidity. i swear.

Look deeper into this strategy. Nobody has said this but I suspect it has to do with UF playing five CB's in its defensive backfield which has resulted in stellar pass coverage. The weakness here is that they are weak against the run particularly in the second level.

Another factor could have been that if LSU went on any three and outs the we could have had a repeat of last year where UF simply wore our Defense down which is not as deep as it was last year. It was pretty hot out there and if the D had to stay on the field too much then it would have been a bad end to the game. I honestly think that Miles and Chavis told Cameron in there game strategy that he had to give the D some time off the field between series.

If you note too the passes we did throw were well defended.

I do think that the next game at Ole Miss will be back to business as usual for the CC Express...

Our d was the best when Robinson and white were allowed to shut their guys down.

While this was a HUGE turn around for our defense, ill point out that the weaknesses were still present, just mitigated much better by great coaching.

I hate that we have to blitz to get pressure these days, but at least we have the CBs to do it now. I Also hate that our MLB always seems to be running plays down from behind. That position is supposed to meet the ball head-on.

I fear Manzeil's scrambling could expose our lack of speed at LBer (kwon aside). We may have to throw up some points to win that one.

The first few plays, Florida was running through the D line, I was getting concerned, looked like same old D this year- porous! Then, they seemed to find themselves, and kept the Gators out of the endzone! We keep this up and we have a shot at Bama & A&M, which before last night, I didn't think possible with the way the D was playing before last night.
The Offensive Game plan- it worked! Especially good when you figure we had a couple of drops and Mett didn't have his best game.

He wanted to be the hammer. He may not have liked that particular analogy, but it was accurate. And it's what played out.

I posted this on the SECR, reposting here:

It's obvious that UF had the best defense LSU will play all year. It's also obvious that LSU had the best defense UF has played so far, and maybe all year as well.

After the UGA game, I heard a fan wonder if the LSU defense missed the bus, how long would it take the rest of the team to notice?

Welcome back, defense. You've been missed.
