If we do make a change, what sets us apart from Nebraska/Tennessee/Texas, etc?

First of all, I am all on board the change pain train. What I want to know is what legitimate non-p&g glasses differences do we have with other “top” programs that will prevent us from entering a long term slump?

• Nebraska let Solich and Bo go after relatively successful tenures and haven’t been able to return to where they once were. (argument here is no talent in state and more competition for out of state targets that they used to get).
• Tennessee has been a dumpster-fire of coaching hires.
• Texas, did they wait too long/cupboard bare syndrome?
• Who else?

What are some examples of programs that released relatively successful coaches and got better? Zook –> Meyer, who else?

What can we do/do we have in place that will prevent a slump like these from happening? We think that we can just cherry pick a top tier coach (cough, jimbo, cough) but really can we? If so, why?

Again, pro-change, just want to know the plan for success. Help me understand…

Nothing.

A poor hire and LSU is in serious danger of becomming UT/Nebraska. A string of poor hires (UT) and LSu is fricked.

Here's to hoping Alleva knows what he's doing if he does give Les the ax.

If you aren't changing then you are only going backwards.

Don't be afraid of the unknown and accept that there are risks. We don't know what the future holds.

What we do know is that if we stay where we are then we will be a 8-4 to 10-2 team each year and we won't be winning national championships.

If the goal is to win it all, then a change is required.

Miles is a great man that has done good things for the program. Acknowledge his successes and move forward.

How many times do I need to respond to people who keep mentioning Nebraska?

Haven you seen the four coaches Nebraska has had since Osbourne retired? None of them really looked that great on paper. Riley is the only one with any head coaching experience at the college level, but he was marginally successful while at Oregon State.

Pelini had no business landing that high profile of a position for his first head coaching job.

Ohio State firing John Cooper and hiring Jim Tressel may be the best case scenario of an almost elite coach being fired and a team getting even better.

The obvious answer is: immediate talent to win a championship.

According to some the snowflakes, Belichick is damn tired of the cold winters and wants to spend his remaining coaching years in warm Louisiana.
Others are absolutely positive that Gruden is bored with his cushy TV gig and is dying to jump into the mental grind of recruiting, and coaching games.
Still others are convinced that Saban has had enough of collard greens and cornbread and longs to get back to jamblaya and gumbo.
The rest know for a fact (they all have double deep secret inside sources)that even as we sit here today, the athletic administration is being swamped with resumes from big name coaches around the country.
