You would think so right? Win 3-4 vs #1 and beat a really good MState team they have to consider us right?

Whether we would or should would be two different things. We would be worthy at that point if not already now.

I still think we need to win the tourney. Or at least get to the championship game.

Even if we're not a top 8 seed, whichever team is set across from us for the potential super won't like seeing us paired with them.

USC losing this morning could certainly help as well. I still think we might need to make it to Champ game. That gives us the win today and one more win versus either UF or MSU . It would also help if neither Vandy or Ole Miss make that championship game either.

That's a given, but you never want to be the team paired against a team that is playing hot, whether you're at home or not.

Got to win the tournament most likely. And having South Carolina lose again would help

Need Vandy, Ole Miss, and USCe to do as poorly as possible and then AT LEAST make the championship game.

Right?

Probably still have to win it.

If we win today and USCe loses today to go 0-fer, then I think we go from being in consideration to a slight lead on the 8th seed. If you assume Virginia grabs 7th seed, there really is no other competition for that last seed except USCe, today's Ole Miss/Vandy winner and maybe FSU.

One bit of good news is, per Warren Nolan RPI, we are now 7th, ahead of South Carolina. If they lose again and we win the tournament, I think we get a national seed.

National Seed Race

quote:

We remain convinced that six teams are locked in as national seeds (Miami, Texas A&M, Louisville, Florida, Mississippi State and Texas Tech) regardless of what happens this week. South Carolina entered the week as a favorite for one of the last two spots, but the Gamecocks probably need to avoid an 0-2 showing in the SEC tournament, especially if LSU, Ole Miss or Vanderbilt makes a deep run — one of those three teams could displace South Carolina as the SEC’s fourth national seed with a strong week in Hoover. So South Carolina’s 10-4 loss to the Rebels on Wednesday could loom large; now the Gamecocks must face No. 1 ranked Texas A&M in an elimination game Thursday. A win against the mighty Aggies with Braden Webb on the mound might be enough to secure their national seed, when combined with their SEC East title and an RPI that remains strong at No. 7. But another loss would open the door for Ole Miss or LSU to push them aside

quote:

Virginia, our eighth national seed, was idle Wednesday. At No. 15 in the RPI, the Cavs need a solid showing this week to strengthen their case and keep a fifth SEC team from swooping in and taking their national seed. The two top candidates for that are Ole Miss (up one spot to No. 5 in the RPI after Wednesday’s win) and LSU (up two spots to No. 7 after a thrilling 14-inning win against Florida). Vanderbilt’s resume is still a tick behind those two (largely because of its poor nonconference SOS and head-to-head series loss to LSU), but the Commodores certainly helped themselves with a 6-5 win against Texas A&M on Wednesday. All of those teams remain within striking distance of a national seed.

It's also worth noting that depending on their outcome of their conference tourney, ULL is a strong candidate as a regional host. And, Tulane is also in that conversation.

Hopefully both get one instead of one getting thrown into the BR Regional contaminating the Box atmosphere.

That is what I am thinking, and us winning 1 maybe 2 more should get us a top 8 seed!

It'll certainly help our case but we need USC to lose this morning and probably Ole Miss as well

Seems like conference tourneys matter very little to the selection committee. Top 8 seeds might already be locked in. Body of work and all. Hope not though
