Auburn, mizzu, Bama?
The answer would have to be Bama bc they would be guaranteed a top 4 bc they can't lose in the sec champ game.
So basically playing in the championship game could be a huge disadvantage in years to come??

it wouldn't be okie st. that's for sure. gundy would fricking quit because he would be left out again.

that 4-team playoff would solve a fricking thing this year. in fact, it would be worse than years past.

'guaranteed top 4' won't mean guaranteed a spot in a four team playoff.

I agree with this 100%

this gives two chances to make the playoffs.

This is why only conference champions should be allowed in.

I think they are going about the Playoffs in such a way that will make the BCS setup look good and people long for those days

the only problem with that is: every game during the season would not count.

with a 16 team playoff, all games would count because, if you lose to a "McNeese", you'd better win your conference or your out.

you get my drift?

Some say the issue with the 16 game playoff is the number of games that the teams are already scheduled for. I say get rid of the CRAP games, reduce the regular scheduled games and make all the games real, then do the larger playoff.

But I guess that makes too much sense

every other sport has two ways of making the playoffs. one being the champ of the conference and two being the at large big

I think football should be the same way.

Sure they would. Not every conference gets in. If the conference champion from the big 10 loses to mcneese, their chances are diminished because their ranking falls.

But Alabama losing enough to avoid the conference championship while sneaking in was a major flaw a few years ago.

Am I missing a reason why it would have to be a multiple of 4? Just has to be even right?

Then how about 14 - 10 conference champs and 4 at large

Since it's up to Condaleeza Rice, it may be more random than ever.

With the number of teams in the country and the few games they actually play. I don't see why you really need at large teams. Why are people so dead set on a way to sneak in to the playoffs?

Just win your damn conference to be eligible.

To me, that is a huge factor in the playoff format.

How messed up would it be next year if Auburn lost the SECCG (say on a last-second FG) and then lose their spot to Bama who they just beat.

I think it's really messed up. It's the same dynamic that allowed Bama in 2011 to sit at home drinking beer while LSU had to earn the privilege to play them again the NC by winning the SECCG.

It's going to be a committee not "Top 4". You figure without an upset in the CCG's, a committee this year picks FSU, Ohio St and SEC Champion. The 4th spot is the one up for grabs. The committee could choose to weigh a conference title more and put in Okie St. While I think Bama is better than Okie St I wouldn't object if Okie St were BigXII champions.

Now granted Bama needed a lot of help, which they got by Okie St dropping a game to Iowa St.
