than they are saying (and it appears it may be) and he ends up missing a good part of the season then...

1. Will LSU still make it to Omaha? (not can they cause of course they can)
and..

2. What would you like to see the weekend rotation be?

my thinking is that LSU probably would not make it to Omaha only because they would prob. have to go on the road for the super regionals.

as far as the rotation i would like Fri. Ross. Sat. Matulis. and Sun. Rittiner. With Bradshaw struggling Bourgeois should assume the long relief role.

In any event here's to hoping Ranaudo comes back quickly and none of this will matter

It would be tough, unless our offense just explodes

hell this wknd vs arkie is going to be really tough, we may very well lose 2/3

Ranaudo won't be back until mid season.

We may need to move Ott into the rotation if Bourgeois and Ross can't be consistent

ott in a starter role concerns me too

his effectiveness dropped a ton last year when he was stretched more than an inning or so, except for the texas game

Heard from a scout that Ranaudo is going to be out a good while. Ott won't be as effective if he is used in a longer role; once the batters see him the second time around he'll get hit.

LSU offense is Omaha caliber, when it warms up and the wind starts blowing out, LSU will be a tough out.

They can get to Omaha without Ranaudo, winning it all will be difficult without him.

Anthony will be back soon. It's not that bad. And even if you see Ott more than once, his MAJOR LEAGUE slider is wicked, when he's on, he's unhittable.

It's rare to be 100% wrong in one post. You have succeeded. Ranaudo will be back soon and with Ott's stuff he would still be successful second time around the lineup. His stuff is similar to Coleman's. How did Louis do moving from the closer to starter role last year?

The BEST CLOSER in all of college baseball is NOT going to the starting rotation. We will be OK

How do you know this for sure? You act like he's been a closer all his life.
Also I'm pretty sure people said the samething about Coleman, we saw how that turned out. Pitchers with good control who can put the ball on the corners are effective. Coleman could put the ball almost wherever he wanted. Maybe Ott can do the same.

not comparing HS to college, but ott was a very good SP in HS. People act like he's always been a closer and nothing more.

its because they have short memories, Ott's been a closer for less than a year

i do tend to agree that Ott would be effective as a starter. He is a great closer but the problem is it sort of can sometimes become a waste of a good arm. Unless LSU is in a close game with the lead he has no drastic impact on the game. So sometimes we can go the whole weekend with him having little to no impact cause the games dont dictate using him. At least in a starters role he would have a major impact in at least one game every weekend.

With regard to moving Ott into the starting rotation, it's not like Mainieri can simply make the decision to do that, and Ott can go out and pitch 7 innings the next day. You have to "lengthen out" a pitcher's arm gradually. Ott wouldn't be able to go very far the first 2-3 starts, and that would just put more of a load on a bullpen that, obtw, wouldn't have Ott.

I say keep Ott where he is. Between Ross, Bourgeois, Rittiner and Matulis (and maybe even Moormann), LSU sb okay. If we aren't, then we're screwed anyway.

ETA - Disregard what I just said, if Mainieri decides to pull an "Augie" and have his star reliever suddenly throw 169 pitches....lol. Wonder how that guy is doing now?
