I think he would have been decapitated by Tiger fans.

Hell he took a flogging for most of a 11-2 season and after bringing in back to back top recruiting classes.

Why the love for TJ? Why not discuss his buyout and go for a cheaper coach. That way we at least save money.

I'm sure I'll get flogged for this, but on the whole LSU fans take success in football waaaaaaaaaaaay more seriously than in basketball.

ETA: See Duke football

If Manieri had back to back losing seasons he'd be gone. Basketball plays 3rd fiddle at LSU.

Precisely. Football will always be king at LSU. And there are folk who simply just don't like Miles personally and as our football coach. To them, he's not enough of a rockstar. Results have nothing to do with the disdain.

A few highly touted great players would fix that. It would be like the 80's revisited.

Your comparing apples and oranges. LSU is a all-time top 10 power in college football history, and in the last ten years in the top 3. LSU basketball except during the daddy dale years has mostly been a after thought. Ask yourself this, would Duke fans put up with back to back losing seasons in basketball? Hell no they wouldn't, but most just shrug their shoulders at the quality of their football program.

You also have to factor in that there are a bunch of LSU fans who just don't care about basketball unless the team is playing in the big tourney.

which is absolutely rediculous, the media absolutely loves Miles. Sure some make fun of him, but in the end even the media can't argue with his record. All the while LSU gets a rediculous about of coverage, far more attention than they would with most any other coach.

I wouldn't call us a top ten power of all time.

So that was around 2003 when they were all recruited? It goes in cycles.

Probably in the 11-15 range. I'm not saying we aren't a powerhouse, its just we're not hands down a top 10 all time team.

Your list isn't bad, but LSU is very close to top ten all time as it is 11 or 12 in all time wins

I'm 95% sure that's correct, so to say the poster is totally wrong is a little much

LSU is surely close to top ten
