then thank goodness. Crowton getting cute with the offense and establishing no rhythm for the past 2 years has been absolutely maddening. I'll be the first to admit that I've never been much of a Les Miles fan, but it was nice to see LSU pound the football and be physical in the 4th qtr last night. I'd honestly like to see that smash mouth brand of football a little bit more. Now if LSU could just get competent play from the QB position....

P.S. yes I realize that this was against vandy and that it will be much more difficult to run the football versus our remaining SEC schedule.

i really don't think it's the plays that are called. i believe it's the qb lack of executing the play. we are not going to line up and run the ball 50 times against quality teams. you need a qb to have a threat of completing a pass.

It's not GC's fault JJ can't throw a damn pass.

I am beginning to wonder if JJ will ever get it. I thought he looked good last week and finally improved but he looked like shite vs Vandy.

I just don't think it's the play calling but the player in the game. If that pass that was intercepted had been thrown to the back of the enzone it would have been a td but JJ under threw it. How is that play calling?

actually if you noticed from the mid 3rd quarter on Miles didn't have a play chart in his hand. So that would make you think the calls were actually coming from Crowton

It's GC, he establishes no rhythm trying to run his spread option crap. I hated the hire 4 years ago. LSU has never been a team that needed to run gimic shite to win. Our identity should be hit your arse in the mouth. We don't have on this team a Quarterback who can carry a team right now, and it will bite us in the arse sooner or later.

kind of contradictory. it's g.c. then you say we don't a qb and will cost us.

I have been pointing out for years that the offense seems to play better when Les starts "changing all the plays"

Jimbo got all ticked about it but I seem to remember us moving the ball when we would abandon his standard play calling (jimbo called the same game every week...bubble screen, bubble screen, run the draw on third and medium, start out every second half with ten billion QB draws). We would at times however start powering our run game with double tight ends and throwing play action passes...and strangely enough we would move the ball. It wasn't as pronounced back then because Jimbo has a better offense the GC...but it was there.

Now...same thing. When Les sticks his nose in we get power running and play action...and it works. With this team it's the best option because of QB issues. Mix in what looks like a good defense and it's a smart offense for us as well.

a perfect example of shitty play calling was the end of the second half, when we tried and tried to force the ball to Shepard any way we could instead of just throwing the ball down the field to Tolliver or Randle or Shepard(or Joseph underneath in the seam)

Les did say something about "believing in the plays being called, just needs to be executed". I guess if he is calling them then he would believe in them.

It's the complete and utter lack of capability by our supposed OC/QB coach to recognize how to properly utilize the talent (or lack thereof) on the field. And even moreso how to teach and improve on what he's got to work with.

Yes, JJ played poorly last nite, but what does that say about Crowton in that he's been working with this kid for 3 years, and that's the result?

Crowton needs to be relieved of his duty, and Miles is at fault for not recognizing it sooner

Miles is calling the plays. That comes from one of the QBs.

GC is stubborn. When something does work, he abandons it. When something does not work, he stays with it. He does not adjust to what the defense is giving him. He does not recognize mismatches or players strength and weaknesses in certain situations such as field condition. For instance, last year vs Penn St on that muddy field, Trindon Holliday made a shoe adjustment in the 2nd half. TH seemed to be the only player on the field with any kind of traction and provided positive productivity on special teams and limited offensive situations. Camera angles kept showing a pumped up TH on the sidelines, just waiting to get back on the field. GC should have recognized this big mismatch, but TH sat the bench the remainer of the game and you could see the frustration on TH late in the game. I could go on and on with GC's stubborness or inability to recognize a spark for a stagnant offense such as Charlse Scott vs UK in '97, but you get my drift. To be honest, nothing could ever convince me the adjustment LSU made to pound the ball vs Vandy in the 4th quarter was GC's call. GC would have used it once or twice, mixed in with mostly BS sets and LSU would still be searching for an offensive identity.
