If by some miracle LSU were to win the SEC tournie (I realize that's stupid and damn near impossible but just humor me) do you think that there is any chance that Johnny would still be fired?

Also, what do you think we'd be seeded?

I'm sure if he made the tournament, he'd keep his job. As much as that would suck, I'd bet my life on it.

I think it would be absolutely fricking hilarious. Incredibly embarrassing, but funny nonetheless.

Dennis Felton is a perfect example of what you'd be looking at here.

LSU could make the Final Four and JJ would still get fired!

Exactly, they ended up firing him 6 months later mid-season. I'm sure Georgia fans cringed when they won that SECT.

I bet even Les Miles is probably saying "c'mon Joe, do your job and fire that guy already".

If this team made a run, I'm fairly certain Jones would be retained, simply because there isn't any smoke coming from the AD and powers that be. I get the impression that men's basketball has dropped way down the priority list, and as long as there's no public outrage, Alleva hasn't even made a list of possible replacements.

We'd probably be seeded 14th or so.. some excuse would be made that we won a Power 5 conference tourney, and we'd be ahead of some of the smallest conference teams like the SWAC and MEAC etc.

1. We're not even eligible because the last place SEC team doesn't play in the SEC tourney
2. I have a better chance of winning the Powerball while losing my virginity

No, all 14 teams make it. If you are looking at last year's bracket, it only had 13 teams because Missouri chose not to play because they were being investigated for wrongdoing under former coach Frank Haith. I think they would have been the 11 seed, so they had to redraw the bracket.

The bottom 4 teams play Wednesday and must win 5 games.

Books would be written about it. Movies would be produced. It would be one of the most incredible sports moments in College Basketball history.

To your original question, Jones would most likely keep his job just because of the monumental nature of the event and the coverage it would receive.
