I went to my first game as a wee lad in 1973. LSU is my first love and my enduring love. I graduated from LSU in 1989. I have attended games through thick and thin, stay until the last play of every game, tailgate with fellow LSU graduates, make contributions to various LSU-related projects, buy dumb-arse $500 bricks for pathways, send in larger checks to fund scholarships and new arenas, everything that LSU asks of it's alumni.I have three kids possibly headed that way in the next five years.

frick UForfeit. I have never seen an SEC school publicly choreograph and get away with such a destructive and cynical display of self-serving bullshite in my life. Even as we speak, they are hosting recruits and laughing on a perfectly sunny day. They decided they would harm LSU and earn a "victory" by unilaterally canceling a game in a cowardly attempt to "backdoor" their way to an SEC East appearance, and they got away from it. Hiding behind a storm while my 74 year old mother (and thousands of other legitimate victims in affected areas far from Gainesville) try to make it back to her St. Lucie County home to see how bad her home was damaged.

If LSU and our weak and feckless administration allows itself to be strong-armed by UForfeit and a duplicitous SEC office,at the expense of our players and fans, and they succeed in forcing the last home game of the year to be cancelled after all this I'm done. If UForfeit is allowed to profit at our expense , I'm done. Sure, I'll watch the games on tv, but I sure as hell ain't writing any random checks or renewing season tickets to a school that rolls over and silently takes it like this on such a reliable basis from our senior partners at the SEC. The SEC and UForfeit are complicit in this and I'm not supporting a school that will just continue to bend over, year after year, and take it up the arse every time the SEC office gets in the mood. It's weak and shameful to acquiesce to your own sabotage.

I hope somebody with some swag and balls and a fricking checkbook steps up and tells the SEC and UForfeit to frick off. Sadly, being small potatoes, the only thing I can do, is write letters, make phone calls and refuse to write checks. So that's what I'll do. Not because I want to, but because I have to to maintain my sanity and integrity. And I'd ask you to join me if you feel similarly. Overwhelm the Athletic Department with phone calls and emails. Let em know they can buy whatever shitty ticket they want, but you aren't going along for the ride.

You're going to get bashed for that, for sure.

However, the fact that this upsets you so much tells me that you haven't been playing close attention.

It is neat to see what events finally turn fans onto what many of us have known for years. The SEC is going to protect its top products: Bama and UF (with Auburn being a close third). Everyone else can go frick themselves.

This includes ALL ON THE FIELD and OFF THE FIELD advantages that are given to these three schools annually.

All this game does is further put LSU in its place. As if the Mulligan Bowl, "bridge schedules", and several "poorly officiated" games over the years haven't already done that.....

Couldn't agree more. The SEC is not our friend. I grew up watching Joe Labruzo, Tommy Casanova, and Pistol Pete in the old cow palace. We are selling our soul for a check from Birmingham. Time to find a new conference.

Besides this inexplicable line, I agree with you. I've hit my personal breaking point, that's all. I can't "play along" at my own expense any more if LSU weakly architects it's own demise. The nail-studded two by four in the spine that broke the camel's back.

I'm with ya, Pimp. LSU can not allow themselves to be painted as uncompromising when we did everything we could from the start. It's not our fault that Sankey blew it and now wants to save face by forcing us to drop South Al.

Take a stand, Joe!

It has to be more than just Joe. It has to be Joe's bosses, the big money donors and the fans. We have to draw a line in the sand and be willing to call the SEC's bluff. We can start by demanding a forfeit. That's the actual right call. Reasonable efforts were made to play the game by LSU. And then when those were rebuffed, extraordinary efforts were made. This game is a forfeit. Or UForfeit essentially benefits at the expense of at least two other SEC schools, not to mention Presbyterian and South Alabama . It's absolute farce and we shouldn't play along.

Some are trying say Joe showed some backbone when he called out a Florida newspaper reporter on the radio, but in that same interview he laughed at the idea of asking for a forfeit. He said that's not even a thought.

Why wasn't Joe asking for a forfeit starting Wednesday when it became apparent that Florida was backing out of the game? I know I was.

My Thursday post attempted this to no avail in a whimsical way. If LSU doesn't stand up to this BS, lost all faith in the SEC.

My first game was 1957, i.e., Jim Taylor day.

Pimp,

I am wholeheartedly with you.

This has been an opportunity for me to assess my priorities. Our program is submissive and subservient. From Thanksgiving games to catering to conference scheduling, I have been forced to consider the investment of time and money that I have made over the years. When the conference expanded and we took AL's scheduled trip to GA, while they got MO, I stopped traveling within the conference, and began rooting against all SEC teams.

I realized that money would be better spent on more family oriented entertainment. After spending this morning coming up with some hard numbers on my monthly investment in following LSU FB (roughly $1000/ mo.), this recent event puts me over the top. I have to feel LSU is on equal ground for that type of investment, and depending on the outcome of this fiasco, my future hangs in the balance.

I need LSU to use good faith and show some backbone here and do what's in its supporters best interests long term. They can lose me here, and I even have friends in administration. Common reply I get is, "It's ALL about the money!"

Well, act wisely here, because it may not be mine much longer. And I've never been shy about my identity on here. I truly mean it.

Pimp -

Notwithstanding the grotesque absurdity of what has transpired, I ask that you reconsider your decision. We are on the cusp of a new and thrilling era of LSU football. The next coach is going to put us back in contention for championships. We are going to maraud our way through the conference, hacking off limbs and trampling tiny UF wangs in the process. The SEC office can't stop it, the referees can't stop it, our opponents can't stop it, and even the gods of football will bow before us. It's coming. And it's going to be glorious. You know you want to be there.

LSU made extraordinary efforts to play the game. UForfeit desperately tried to run out the clock on the game in bad faith, rebuffing at least seven easy options, each offered in good faith.

Now UForfeit wants:
A competitive advantage against LSU.
A competitive advantage against the entire SEC East (particularly Tennessee).
LSU season ticket holders to give up a home game.
Wants a flood -ravaged business community to give up millions of dollars in game week sales.
LSU to give up an easy home OOC win.
LSU to accept a "murderer's row" 3 game road stretch in three weeks to end the season.
Texas A&M and LSU to rearrange the Thanksgiving game day and all the expenses involved.
Presbyterian University kicked to the curb like trash.
South Alabama kicked to the curb like trash.

This SCREAMS for the logical decision. A forfeit.

I know your comment is not directed at me, but I'll take this opportunity to say that following LSU only on TV and message boards like you, is not going to benefit the LSU program and keep it relevant in today's college football atmosphere.

Frick the Ducks. From here on out, that's what they'll be known for. They just lost all respect.

Small potatoes are more important than big potatoes. Add up a dozen or so and you get a sack of potatoes. Do it again, more sacks. Small potatoes do it for the love of the game and the university, big potatoes for the notoriety. Small potatoes are more loyal and stay around longer but are much harder to get back once you loose them. Big potatoes rot faster. I am older than you and have been at it longer. First game as a 4 year old on Halloween 1959 and I only remember snips. Graduated LSU 1978 in Chemical Engineering. Stopped sending checks to university when the liberal F King was hired. Began selling my season tickets prior to every season to family member after bowl loss to Clemson. I get letters from LSU Administration every few weeks and even phone calls concerning the cessation of my donations. I tell them why. I have spoken to two BOS members and they don't want to hear it. My final words to them and to all, "Money talks and bullshite walks". I'm with you.
