Particularly on game-day? Does he just sit there and count timeouts in his head while eating grass and digging in his ears and nose?

He has already handed over the keys of the defense to Chavis, so maybe he wants to keep control of the offense to justify his being on the sidelines?

I'm trying to figure out his rationality for always tinkering with one side of the football.

ETA: on gamedays he needs to watch the clock and call t.o.'s. He may feel like he needs to do more but in reality they don't need him to do more, just stand there with his white hat and look confused all game.

Motivating players, etc.

Who the hell cares? If we have a great OC, a great DC, and Miles doesnt do shite on gameday but we are winning then so be it.

Like a good many head coaches, he oversees the entire program and looks after the welfare of his coaches and players. Obviously he would have input into the game plan. Basically he would coordinate the coordinators.

He just needs to stand on the sidelines and look confused, eat grass, pick his nose, and golf clap to get his team hyped up.

:Gets in time machine:

Q: If Coach Bowden leaves the defense to Mickey Andrews and the offense to Mark Richt, what exactly does he do?

A: Win.

That's the best thing he can do. Stay out of the way.

LSU fans will still bitch
"we didn't run the ball enough"
"we didn't pass the ball enough"
"insert player name, didn't get enough playing time"
"should beat, instert team name, by 490points instead of 350"
"miles talks funny"
"saban would have worn a blue hat instead of white"

regardless of whether or not LSU gets a new OC, and how well the team plays fans will still find a reason to bitch and complain.

I feel like this is supposed to be a "we don't need Miles" thread.

In all reality, he will do what other coaches do on gameday that have offensive and defensive coordinators...motivate the team, watch the clock, manage gameflow as far as certain strategies go (hopefully with input from OC and DC), and determine when to go for it and/or punt on select 4th downs.
