Or are these just the first reports of folks we've actually made contact to.

LSU met with Wade this morning in Richmond.

CBS reported a third party representing LSU had contact with Crean to gauge any interest.

I'm not usually a fan of a$$holes, but the majority of the SEC teams that advanced to the tourney have coaches that are called azzholes...Mike Andereson, Calipari and Frank Martin (currently beating Duke).

i'd rather not hire the coach that was fired. why not hire the up and coming one?

Because you need an A.D. that can actually get the up and coming one. Who knows...maybe Alleva will surprise us.

I like Tom Crean a lot. The guy is fired (odd thing to say about a coach you want) but that means we're not in a battle with his current school. He built up Marquette and did some good things at Indiana after they were smashed by the NCAA. It's also not 1980 anymore. Indiana basketball is a lot like Nebraska football.

I do like Buzz Williams more. But his name hasn't been brought up since the very early who might LSU interview articles.

How about defending and defensive rebounds before we talk about crashing the glass? This years LSU team had no clue how to dig down, slap the floor and play defense. No clue what help defense is or weak side help means. Let's get a coach that absolutely mandates defense.

Pass. Crean is damaged goods. If you can't win at Indiana, with it's rich tradition, you're not getting it done at LSU.

Hoops coach hires are a crap shoot. Look at all the failed hires across mens hoops.
People forget that Foley hired Donovan who was only 35-20 in two seasons at Marshall.

I would go with Wade between Crean and Wade.

I think we need some law and order to the clown show LSU basketball has become. Either will do, but sometime you need a hard arse to make the program grow. Expecting excellence and expecting to win with discipline, there is nothing wrong with that. And once the winning begins, more will buy in. LSU needs discipline right now....if you watched this years team. You would agree....

Without a doubt what we witnessed this season was something I've never seen at the college level. Jones really was the worst coach I've ever seen Hal Mummy cares more about defense than that bum.

We cannot and should not hire crean. As has been said, his recruiting is piss-poor and his record at IU is lukewarm, at best.

Also, Culotta has me convinced that we shouldn't hire him because his brother-in-law, Jim Harbough, would then have an inroad to come recruit here. While I don't think that completely, absolutely disqualifies him, I don't want that.
