If I had to draw conclusions

The team wanted JL to come in and basically committed mutiny on the ship. Miles said screw you guys JJ is staying in the game. Team said okay frick you we are gonna lay an egg. That is how I see it based on all the nonsense I have read today.

If true this is going to be a wild week.

this was obvious when Brad Wing had a 29 yard punt at the end of the game.

Picking through all the trash today and based on things I heard from fans at the game this seems to make most sense currently.

This is the conspiracy theory that makes the most sense. I think 90% of the team believed JJ was a virus and finally took a stand and displayed their resentment.

The players were emotionally out of it by the second half. No confidence in themselves. No confidence in their coaches. Their play was going to be poorly affected. They wouldn't intentionally play poorly in the NC game just to send a message to Miles.
I do believe, however, that JJ's ineptedness at QB affected the O-Line and WR play. Those guys had to be discouraged knowing that even if they held a block or got open, JJ wasn't going to execute. I'm not saying the O-line threw the game to get Lee in, but naturally, JJ's poor performance only hurt the rest of the O.

sorry, no matter how much i hate another player, no way would i pass up the opportunity to even try and win the NC. I would think, we did it without a QB in the first meeting we can do it again. if it was a meaningless bowl game, i can see it, but not the NCG

Do tell. I was at the game....

If the talk about Lee's attendance record is true, and Les wasn't playing him because of that, I could see this being a possibility (outside of the "frick you we are gonna lay an egg). I'm sure they felt like Miles didn't do everything he could, and they could care less about Lee's attendance.

Which is why he was chosen a permanent team captain by the players. Umhum.

Punt shaving. I like it.

I don't see them just laying down and throwing the game. It's the biggest game of their careers thus far, in most cases. I could, however, see them losing momentum and morale, then completely deflating when it becomes obvious that the coach is not going to rectify the situation because he: lost his mind/took payola/bet on the game/found that his long lost love child is a black quarterback/whatever.
They had that kind of defeated appearance. Anger should have made them look more alive, not less.

Yeah good point. I didn't think about that. It's been a rough 2 days living here in Bama.

If you are going to be distracted by worrying about what new ways your quarterback can find to frick up and being frustrated that the coach won't at least TRY something or SOMEONE different, yeah I could see how that might keep you from focusing on your position assignment for the play. Then again, after it was evident that Lee was not coming in, they may have just said "frick it" and given up.
