If Chavis is responsible for the Defense, then lay off Les!

We ALL, including me, have maintained that Les is HANDS OFF with the defense, and the Chief is left to do his thing. If that is the case, and I believe it is, then hold Chavis to task about what has transpired with this defense, not Miles. Les has done an outstanding job hiring Cameron and our offense shows- it's fun watching the LSU offense again!

The defense on the other hand, is a slow moving train wreck. If we are going to be honest with ourselves, then we can't beat up Les Miles for the defensive performance we have seen so far. It is intellectually dishonest to hold Les completely responsible for the bad performance and only give Chavis credit when the defense does well.

Chavis needs to get his fat arse out of the coaches box and get down on the field and start cracking some heads. This one is on him.

Some people just love to blame Miles when something goes wrong, which is fine, he is the head coach.
But when LSU does good its the coordinators- it can't go both ways .

Yeah, I think that happens with all of us. I've honestly agreed with most of the analysis you have been bringing this season so far (that I have actually read).

I don't think les had a hand in that defensive collapse we witnessed yesterday but I do hold him responsible because it's his team. He's the head man. He made a great hire with Cameron. We all love that fact. But I feel like if you want the credit you need to take the criticism of the whole team. The only kudos yesterday goes to our offensive players. Our staff should be criticized for the total performance of the team.

I watched the post game news conference and you could see the disappointment in his face and tone. I am a good reader of people and I could see that he felt a bit helpless, he needs to crack the whip.

So, am I to understand that in years past Chavis was able to produce great defenses, but inexplicably this year he's a failure? Could it be, oh I don't know, a lack of player talent? Coaching only gets you so far.

Do you think he's just gotten to high on his horse? Like he expects he'll field a great defense year in year out? I wonder whats going on with him. It's not like we have fielded a whole new defense at the start of the first game. The bulk of these guys were all in training camp and have been on the field since TCU. WTF?

I honestly don't know, I usually have an opinion about everything, but this one had me flummoxed.

You are a fricking moron.

Both Chavis and les are good, but the fact is that had the offense not been so inept for so many years, the defensive players the team lost last year probably wouldn't have been so compelled to leave.

Would you want to sacrifice your body for three quarters per game when you could just go to the draft? Bc that's basically how long they were on the field each game the last few years

Honestly, the only great defense I saw from Chavis was in 2011.

Offense is great. Defensive talent is lacking.

We're just average at best on defense this yr. Seems to be the case throughout the top of the SEC.

I think it is wrong to look at Ga game as the reason to complain about defense. LSU D has been toothless for a while, they look like the play it safe rather than aggressive. What happened to the defense that causes turnovers, sacks, tackles for a loss?

OMG, LSU lost a game and the fans find out that this team isn't perfect. I expect a few more losses. I bet that Ole Miss and Bama beats us this year. I'm waiting for the Fire Les Miles threads after we lose another game.

this. I've always liked it when the coordinators are down on the sidelines with the team. Can't get too fiery or emotional for the team to see up in the booth...

This is on the defensive side of the ball. Especially Chavis and Raymond
We need Ron Cooper back because the defense secondary is horrible period.

Did Alabama not lose 8 starters from their 2011 defense only to win back to back championships last season? Our defense is not as inexperienced in the defensive backfield as it is made out to be. Coach Raymond needs to get those fellows head out their arse and put em in position. I believe it is a combination of bad coaching and a great opponent. I'm not jumping off a bridge like a lot of fans but adjustments are needed and I believe will happen

2010 was great as well and the only reason we won 10 games. 2012 was a lot better than most. The failure 2012 had was the last drive in the Bama game.
