It's primarily a conservative offense with a power running game with a feature back, and a dependable tight end.

You have one featured receiver, but plenty others who can make big plays with a gritty, competitive quarterback who may not be the best pure passer, but who has pocket awareness and can extend plays. Also, a big powerful offensive line who can push people down the field.

Leonard Fournette is DeMarco Murray.

We definitely have the WR corps.

Right now, neither Jennings nor Harris seems to have the necessary pocket or field awareness.

But you have a productive but basically conservative offense that is capable of big plays. Heck, they even run on first down most of the time. Les would be ecstatic.

I wish we could emulate Dallas's offense. We have most of the personnel for it.

Well, true in a way.

But there are matters of personnel utilization also, such as making Fournette the workhorse back. I'm not saying give him quite as many carries as Murray, but yes, he needs to be used as the feature back.

Any offense looks good when you have a good QB

They also have 1 of the best, if not the best, OL in the NFL.

But schematically, I agree. A power running attack with a vertical passing attack with some quick screens to the WR mixed in. And we had that last year with Mett and that group.

That said...If you don't have a QB capable of making the simple throws, it doesn't matter what you run. It's gonna be a struggle.

Considering how conservative we've been and dependent on our run game, TEs usually flourish in that kind of offense. It's pretty baffling how our QBs have never utilized that kind of security blanket.

It should be. Jason Garrett and Cam Cameron are both disciples of the Air Coryell offense.

It is a crime for LSU to have the kind of TE production we have had over the years.

You want tight ends..... We have enough tight ends to form a special teams unit. Check.

Biggest cop-out line I keep seeing on this board. So if we don't have a good QB, which is what you are saying after 2014's offense, who's fault is it and what needs to be done to correct it?

We basically run a similar offense to the old cowboys. We have the smith just not the aikmen. Power run game with verticle passing routes.

Good point. We are set up for it, aside from the QB position

You have to have a qb for any offense to look decent. Can't run over every defense.

Throwing to the TEs often requires throwing to the middle of the field....something Les has no confidence that our QBs can do.

Think about our offense deeply !! If we run a play that works,Les puts an X on his play-sheet by that play. Then,he never calls it or runs it again.Ever! If a player is hot...he sets him on the bench. If a receiver is hot he instructs the QB not to throw it to him. That's our offense in a nutshell ! By the way...I always learned that if you ran a play and it worked...run it till the "D"figures out how to stop it. Notre Dame Defense was saying,"Glad they stopped giving the ball to 7 cause he was running over our arse. Thanks LM for giving us an opportunity to win the game.

Unfortunately, outstanding QB play is needed.... Romo proved alot of people wrong, and Jennings isn't Romo.
