I wonder if Alleva has a good relationship with him as they were both at Duke at one time.

If not I'm calling Bobby Hurley next

You roll the dice taking a Coach K guy.

Who gets the gig when K finally croaks?

He's from that area, has deep ties to Chicago, and Northwestern is about to invest a ton of money into their basketball program.

I'm not saying he wouldn't leave, but I doubt he'd leave for a place like LSU.

Indiana could be open soon. He'd be an outstanding fit there, IMO. Syracuse will be open soon, too. I bet they hire from within, though.

Well as long as he left the program in great shape then I wouldn't care if he left for Duke. Then it would be easier to hire a great coach during the next hiring process

Collins apparently makes about $1.7 million at Northwestern.

He's buyable. Is he buyable for the $2.5 million we apparently are budgeting here? Not sure. If that's his number is he the best spend for that price?

Do we trust Alleva to make that call?

And does this guy's experience with Alleva mean he would come to work for him?

Why? He hasn't done anything in Tempe.

Being worried about a guy leaving us for Duke should literally be the last thing we care about.

Not only that, those Duke Blue Bloods know who the AD is at LSU.

On second thought, I'm all for it just to hear Greenie whine about it on Mike and Mike the next day.

I think he's heard Will Wade most recently.

I could see his reasoning for striking while the iron's hot but he's also probably bought himself a decade of job security with this season so he's protected even if things go south after this year. He can definitely afford to stick around there for a bigger job.

The two names I hear most are Mike Brey and Will Wade.

I would be surprised if Brey would leave Notre Dame after all this time, but he did interview in 2008 and he's very good friends with Mainieri. And he makes $1.7 million, so there is room for us to buy him.

Wade is the guy who makes the most sense to me. Search him on YouTube and watch his press conferences, and you'll love him.

But there are lots of good options out there and right now it looks like there won't be many Power 5 jobs open at all.

There are a lot of great coaches in the A-10.
