I don't think anyone knows how good or bad we are. We have elite talent that shows flashes but then there's the legacy of no passing game and over dependence on running backs.

Are we in Bama's league even? We actually may be but it's hard to say.

The X factor is a coaching staff that's more game aware. Teams haven't had to deal with in game adjustments for years. It could make all the diffference.

We actually played vanilla offense in the first half last night. Many Ole Piss fans watched and laughed their asses off until the beginning of the 2nd half. To me, the X-Factor is Mr. Danny Etling.

nope, that looked like a typical Miles game last night, it was southern miss and we still played down to their level, we've got a long way to go

Well here's the thing, we're just an unknown on offense right now. We're getting tight ends open on deep routes and putting the ball in the hands of playmakers in open space.

My concern comes in the way of this: what happens in November when teams can game plan much better for our offense? I would guess we're going to open the whole playbook to compete with Ole Miss. Once our playbook is out in the open do we still look as good? I have no clue, but I'm not gonna jump on any Coach O train or the like until I see how Nov. Plays out.

So i think it's hard to say whether or not our offense is actually on track now. Certainly headed in the right direction though.

Vanilla or not, sleeping or not, the first half was bad. Now, they adjusted and exploded in the 2nd half.

But the question is, which team will show up every week? That's the mystery.

And Ettling as a player is the X factor but giving him a game plan that suits his abilities is on the coaching staff. as is adjusting to what the defense is doing which most likely will be to bring pressure on him.

No, the x-factor is our offensive line

They'll terrorize our offensive line and Etling.

If we can run on them even a little bit, that will equalize. It's hard to do though. Near impossible with that front 7.

O line is the key. They're not very good and make too many mental errors. Pass rushers are coming for em...

I agree with the OP. LSU's last 5 games are all teams ranked ahead of the Tigers. LSU has to beat two of them to even get a bowl game, yet they still have a chance to be SEC Champ and get in the playoffs. Interesting year for sure.

The 1st half seemed like old times, but we killed them and ended the game in the 3rd quarter.

We are not in Bama's league with our overall level of play right now, but we could beat them if our O-line shows up and Etling can get the ball out fast and be accurate when we do throw. I'm just now sure how he'll react against a D like that. Ole Miss and Arkansas both threw for 400 yards on Bama, but their passing game is much better than ours. Still, it shows that the secondary is the soft spot in their D.

We had the game won against a pretty fricking good Wisconsin team despite our shitty coaching, inept quarterback, and new defensive scheme. I'd say we have potential to be excellent if our defense is as good as I think it is.

Offense scored 45 and defense only allowed 1 TD.

Are you retarded?

Our defensive will keep us in every game.
I think we'll beat Ole Miss. As much as it pains me to say it I don't think we'll beat Alabama. Those thinking we'll get run off the field are mentally retarded. We'll need a few big passes to get in scoring position and I don't think Etling can make the plays down the field. Arkansas, Florida and A&M are all toss ups.
It will be a fun ride though. Buckle up because there is alot of unknown about this team and anything can happen with the way our defense is playing
