Tell me the last time every inch on the concourse was packed with standing room only?? And don't generically tell me UK....cause that was beyond a mere sellout

Yeah home slice, I've been a fan and PMAC constant since the Shaq days.
Then you might remember that the PMAC wasn't a sellout for every game in those days. I remember casually sitting three rows back and watching Allan Houston hit some jumpers against the team. Yes, Duke v LSU drew a packed house, but that was a unique event. And there have been a couple of Final Four runs since that time that have drawn more than the Shaq days.

This is the truth. Epps is the only big substitute and he needs a lot of improvement in rebounding and defense. Epps can spell Ben for a while but when Victor is out we really miss the rebounds and low block scoring.

Excellent OP.

Johnny puts on an entertaining brand of hoops and he is giving LSU fans a reason to care about the sport again.

Lightyears better than the CTJ era, or the end of the Brady era.

Brady got good results sometimes, but it came with constant roster turnover, the knowledge that he was more than likely a complete dick to his players, and an aesthetically displeasing style of play.

When Brady's teams weren't winning it was really tough to watch. Ditto for Trent.

Johnny is far from perfect, but he's the right man for the job and he's bringing LSU basketball back.

I have no doubt he has passion for LSU hoops, but I'd wish he'd show more passion at times when coaching. I know every coach has their own style, and he's not a screamer, but still....

The crowd at the PMAC hasn't happened since Shaq. Yeah is was OU and yeah we got Ben but there a ton of casual observers who all of a sudden have a reason to bitch. Nobody even cared to bitch when Trent was here.

I think what I've seen here is more posts on hoops this year and probably ever on this forum, both critics, and those defending the program and CJJ from the critics. Still not much mind you but more, and that's a good thing for the program, sure beats apathy.

Exactly.

Its so hard to distinguish a true hater of LSU basketball and Johnny Jones vs a straight up troll Internet message board punk

I actually think they may have unified to create a special kind of hybrid scum

The strange thing about this team compared the last years is last year's team ran the court much better and they pressed a lot. This team has pressed almost none.

LSU doesn't have that eraser like Mickey down low to run a press often. You need a guy like that so when the press gets broke, which it will at times, he is back there to at least make them think about the shot.

You think with Simmons this team would be better in the break but last year's team was incredible when they ran.

I don't know about you guys but watching simmons run down the court at 6'10" is pretty cool to watch and it would be better if his teammates would catch and shoot better when he dished it.

I'm all on board with Johnny for several reasons:

1) The uptempo style- After watching Trent Johnson and John Brady basketball for damn near 20 years I was absolutely sick and tired of watching grind it and hold the ball basketball. Yeah that's great in the rare instances that we were winning but those years of winning were few and far between. The grind it out style of basketball under Brady and Trent made 90% of the fanbase stop caring about basketball because it was absolutely unwatchable. Johnny has brought an entertainment value back to LSU basketball.

2) Recruiting - Anyone who sat through and watched Chris Bass start for us for multiple years and/or watched the year where we had a walk-on named Zach Kinsley who ended up being our best player can tell you the leaps and bounds Johnny has made in recruiting for this program. So not only do we get to watch a more exciting style of basketball, but we get to watch great players play in that style. Win or lose, almost every game is entertaining.

3) The guy loves LSU more than anybody. I firmly believe that the Lester Earl situation and LSU being taken away from him made him love this school even more when he got his second chance. I know a lot of people will say that that shouldn't count for anything but I disagree because it counts and means something to me. It would mean way more to have one of our own lead us to a SEC Championship, a final four or a national championship. Just like I will root for Lindsey Scott way more than I ever would have for Felipe Franks because Lindsey is one of us. Just another local guy trying to make it. The same can be said for Johnny. He is one of us. The coaches that truly love the school they are coaching for (i.e. Johnny Jones and Les Miles) are rare breeds. And ones that are from the school are even rarer. In the end it may not work out for Johnny but I can still appreciate the good things that he has done for this program. But until then I am going to root like hell for us to win it all because Johnny is just another one of us and I want to see him represent us and cut down those nets on behalf of the best damn university in the world.

yea, I don't really see the "passion." Jones looks asleep on the sidelines most games.

I don't necessarily want a hyperactive coach like Bruce Pearl flailing his arms and jumping around, but I think it would be beneficial to see more energy on the sidelines. Players usually respond to that.

I don't know where you people get this stuff. He doesn't go crazy 90% of the games but he's constantly walking up and down the sideline, talking to players, talking to officials. Everyone says he has a "lack of passion" because they view passion a certain way.

Phil Jackson spent almost his entire basketball coaching career sitting on the bench...he has no passion

Butt, this is an easy answer for you --> The people who claim they don't see the passion don't go to the games. Simple. Johnny is by no means Bruce Pearl who acts like an assclown while sweating his arse off. However, every game this season Johnny has lost it on the refs AT LEAST two times every game. But they can't show everything on TV.

Did Brady or Trent donany of the promoting that Johnny has done? Giving the campers pizza and before the season he was walking around campus promoting the upcoming games are some things. Hw came and talk to me and my friends at the union for a bit.

my son does his basketball camp every summer. He always shakes my hand, signs my sons camp ball, the mingles with all the age groups. He's a class act.

and youre right, he does work the sidelines. Notice how SECN had pearl constantly wired for sound? its because he's an irrate assclown.

oh btw, we dominated them. But his usage of time outs was stellar
