I hope the signing of the Cuban infielder doesn't block Bregman!

Not great timing for Bregman. I had thought the plan was for him to ultimately play third base for the Astros, with Carlos Correa at shortstop.

Being from Texas, I have always liked the Astros and was happy that they drafted Bregman. But if he would have a better chance to start with another team, maybe the Astros can trade him to get some more pitching.

That's funny. It's EXACTLY what will block Bregman. The guy is a Cuban player with experience + power and plays SS and 3rd base. Bummer for Bregman.

Roster expansion and playing outfield. The Stros Manager has been saying that as long as they are in it they will try him in different positions including outfield. We like multi position players. Why would we call him up?? The Rangers are tanking and we are only 4.5 back.
The Stros with the current roster are on for 110 wins.

Bregman has said he'll play the outfield. He just wants to play in the bigs and win!

Think a potential trade is in the works for him? Just a thought.

Stros aren't trading their top prospect away to make room for a 32 year old.

Not sure why people keep saying maybe the Astros need to trade Bregman. Are you kidding me? That lineup still needs a couple if not a few more quality bats. And Bregman could prove to be another Biggio for the Astros. Play him at third, play him in the outfield. But play him when he comes up, because you need another good bat.

I think some people forget Bergman played catcher in high school and transitioned into a legit SS prospect. He's clearly very versatile. Whoever he plays for will find a way to get him in the lineup, regardless of his position

if you can hit - they will find a place for you

Gurriel and Bregman will give Hinch versatility, and the club will find a place to put them if they can hit like their track records suggest they might be able to in the big leagues. Gurriel figures to need some time in the Minors before joining the Astros, and he'll have to be added to the 40-man roster on Saturday considering he's being signed to a Major League deal.
The designated hitter looms large for both Gurriel and Bregman. They could both get plenty of at-bats at DH. Plus, Gurriel or Bregman could play shortstop while Carlos Correa slides to DH on occasion, and Gurriel could play second while Jose Altuve moves to DH sometimes, as well.
If one of them starts in left field, the other could start at third base, while Luis Valbuena -- who's second on the club in OPS -- could be moved to first base. The Astros haven't gotten much production this year at DH, where Evan Gattis has gotten most of the ABs. Entering Friday, the DH spot had a .178 batting average and .598 OPS for the Astros.

Roster versatility is so important in MLB over the looooong season it has. This just adds to it and without giving up any top prospects. In regards to DH, that's where I think Gurriel and Bregman can help this team. Seems logical that those 2 can swing 3b/DH platoon. Gattis moves to backup C only. This also implies Stros will add an arm and maybe 2 by the trade deadline. They are shaping up to be a better post season squad this year than last.

I WISH. But sadly Legion ball was as far as I played.
However, as an AVID fan and season ticket holder, I feel like I partly own the club as many LSU fans (which I am an alumni) also feel part of the team as a fan in Death Valley.

What's the word on Bregman this weekend? Is he tearing the Z's up?

3-9. Had some screeners one double. Scored 1 run and 1 error. He is ready, but why spoil his rookie year?

I'm just sitting on my arse in New Orleans figuring out if I'm going to Zephyr's game tonight.

Thanks for letting me know he's playing
