I hate the prevent Defence

Why does CLM always go to prevent defence when we're finally almost assured a win. Instead of sticking to the defence that's worked so well he starts rushing a 3 man front with no blitzing at all. This allows the QB 10, 15 seconds to stand back there and pick us appart. It's like were saying we're sorry, now were're going to give you a chance to catch up. So Ta&m scores and now we have to sweat out an on side kick for the win. As a fan, I just dont understand this.

It frustrated me against SC, but not as much against TAMU. Frankly, we had already been in three man fronts for most of the game. It was key adjustment that Chavis made after the first quarter. Additionally, after we scored to go up 24-13, I don't believe the defense was markedly more passive than it had been. In fact, we would have stopped that drive if not for an unfortunate facemask penalty.

I mean if the D goes prevent you give up the underneath stuff so they cant hit a big play over the top. Would you rather give up the underneath stuff and let the clock roll a bit, or go man and get burned over the top in 1 play? The prevent is designed to not allow big plays. We were up by 2 possessions before they had that late TD. You cant let them get 1 big play and score with barely having any time run off. Its what the prevent D is designed to do. I felt very safe before the scored that TD, and felt just as safe after. The game was well in hand.

we had aTm off the field once for sure then almost twice but the drive was extended by a dumb penalty and an unfortunate one.
SC game i wanted us to rush an extra man early in the drive but we did get em to 4th and long eventually. just a sweet conversion for the td.

I still remember the prevent defense right before half in the Arkansas game a couple of years ago when our two deep safeties ran into each other and they scored. I'm with the OP. Prevent defense usually prevents nothing, especially another score.

Actually, that was the product of the opposite problem. We inexplicably lined up in a standard cover two with underneath coverage instead of a cover three prevent, despite the clock and field position. We were burned as a result.

Seriously, with all of the problems on offense, you pick the defense to hate on? Unbelievable. Trust Chavis, he's the best!
