If things are all hunky dory then fine but when the team looks dazed and confused it would be nice to have these guys providing direction and leadership on the sidelines. With the number of breakdowns on defense what diff does it make to have Chief eating nachos in the pressbox? Just seems like the coaches are lazy to me.

They can watch the field better from the press box. Most coordinators in CFB and the NFL aren't sitting up there because the Head Coach wants to make sure they have air conditioning.

Sean Payton did it for a while in 2011 for the Saints and we went on a huge win streak. It has its advantages

And if they coached from the sideline you'd bitch about how they cant see the action from the sideline, they should be in the pressbox.

I agree. This is a simplistic way of looking at it but you've got a lot of teams that move the ball consistently that have their play caller on the sideline. Mullen, Malzhan, Freeze, Lane Kiffin, Chad Morris at Clemson, so on.

WOW, if only you were around to let Chavis know your opinion BEFORE he built a reputation as one of the best DCs in college football. Think of how elite he could be.

They need the ability to see the entire field as the play sets up and unfolds.
