And it is brilliant.

You simply keep the current coach in place until things get so bad that the fanbase resigns itself to losing and mediocrity. Then, when things are at their bleakest, you make a move. That way fans are so glad to be rid of the prior coach, they are open to accepting whatever hire comes through the door. Then the decreased expectations play into the new hire, as he just has to get the fanbase to think that he's "better than the one before."

That is how it played out with Miles, and it is looking like the same will happen with CJJ, as this is the lowest point the program has reached in a long, long time. We will see how baseball goes this year, but Marinara may be reaching that point as well.

I'm not a huge Mainieri fan. But this statement, and calling him pasta sauce, is fricking retarded. And it belies what would otherwise be a decent post.

A lot of people call him Marinara as a joke, but I can see in this context how it could be taken like that.

Mainieri has been overall consistent. I've given him shite over the years but last year was arguably his best coaching season yet.

We have had one of the most successful baseball programs in the country. Sure we lose a super every now and then but we can't make Omaha every year. Just not gonna happen. Sure marinara has made some mistakes but so has nick Saban who is arguably the best college fb coach. Our baseball team is definitely not at a decline. We had a rebuilding year and a very young and inexperienced team. Wasn't because we were young.

Right, and it's about as funny as Ole Piss or Awbarn.

LSU football, as bad as things looked, was not at that low point that basketball is right now.

I meant headed that way, not there yet. But 1-5 in his last two CWS appearances does not bode well, nor does his tendency to throw his players under the bus. Regardless, this was a thread about The AD, not the baseball coach specifically.

Exactly my feelings. I don't like him, but he's consistent and last year was a great run based on who we lost and what we had.

Each has different expectations. After 2003, the expectation for the football team was to play for and compete for National Championships. The '14-'15 seasons just showed an utter incompetence to compete on one side of the ball and most importantly a refusal by the head coach to address said incompetence.

For basketball, it is all about being competitive. The current product is unwatchable by any objective criteria.

So 4 10 win seasons and 4 top 16 finishes is mediocre?

Look miles had his faults but in no way should his tenure, even the last 5 years, be compared to what the basketball team is currently doing.

In 2015 lsu finished above Bama, ohio state, and fsu in offensive yards per game and offensive points per game. Lets just say that lsu's offense didnt gain yards the way you wanted them too.

you're right again rick. the lsu offense was on its way to being an elite unit. if only they had given coach miles more time then the offense could have really evolved into something special. the fans have blood on their hands.

Is there a more overblown rant complaint than this. Mainairi speaks the truth more than any coach at LSU. Sometimes that truth is the player messed up. There is nothing wrong with saying that.

This statement is true for Johnny Jones only.

We did. I kmow its hard to believe.

Our 2015 offense was a efficient passing attack from being truly elite.

He was justly fired. I just find it funny when people talk about how shitty our offense was in 2015.

it was a dynamic offense that's for sure. i think with a few years and a little seasoning coach miles could have had that passing offense humming.
