Les-led LSU gave up 38 to Ole Miss and scored 17. I'd take your hypothetical.

Wrong. Not if our defense made the same adjustments and only allowed 6 points the second half.

If Ole Miss scores 34 on us with the offense we have, we're gonna lose by 3 TDs.

No, it would not.

Would be thrilled to win by double digits again.

Don't care how much we give up if we still win by double digits.

I'd have a boner from watching a freshman LSU QB complete forward passes and not do a single toss dive.

Nah. Ole Miss put up 43 on Alabama last year. The Reb offense with Kelly is legit.

For the love of God stop!

Bama 45 Clemson 40
FSU 34 Auburn 31

Those were two of the last 3 national championship games. Both Bama and FSU had elite defenses. It would have been like that the last 3 NC games if Oregon didn't lose 2 of their top 3 starting WRs, and starting TE within the last 4 weeks before the NCG.

The 2013 LSU/UGA game is still one of the best games in recent memory even though we lost.

Even with an elite defense you're going to run into a team that's going to cut through it like butter.

Michigan finished 2015 ranked 6th in total defense and 4th in scoring defense. Ohio State puts up 482 yards, 7 yards per play, and 42 points.

Wisconsin finished ranked 4th in total defense, and 17th in scoring defense in 2014. Ohio State put up 558 yards, 9.96 yards per play, and 59 points against them. Granted the defense got zero, and I mean zero, help from the offense.

In 2013, Bama finished ranked 5th in total defense and 4th in scoring defense. Oklahoma put up 429 yards, 5.80 yards per play, and 45 points. Alabama finished ranked 6th in total defense and 12th in scoring defense in 2014. Ohio State put up 537 yards, 6.88 yards per play, and 42 points.

Miles has no defense (pun intended), dude. It's done, it's over.

This is what a lot of people - Les included - don't seem to understand. While a tough defense is still integral to winning championships in college football, it is now essential to have an offense that can score points in a shootout, because even the best defenses give up massive amounts of points in isolated games.

An electric offense is as important as a stout defense, if not moreso, in modern college football. The days of dependably winning tough games 10-7 is over.
