Who would you choose? I'd have to go with Coach O. He has strong La ties and has shown during his time as USC's interem that he's learned a few things since his time at OM. Opinions, thoughts?

Either would fail. Cam, because he's not an alpha. And O, because he's not smart enough, nor does he know how to manage adults.

This is the same reason that Cassius nor Brutus could be Ceasar, because the fault was "not in our stars, but in ourselves, that we are underlings"

I'm not saying that either would succeed or that either would even be considered. If you had to choose, who would it be and why?

It amazes me how many people still think LSU is a coordinator hiring program. We were just ranked the thrid best coaching job in the SEC and in the top 10 nationally. A coordinator will never be hired again at LSU period.

Both guys mentioned have been HCs though, not just coordinators.

Between the two, I'd take Cam.

I wouldn't feel comfortable with either, but if I had to pick then its Orgeron. Elite recruiting and so-so coaching is a better combination than so-so recruiting and elite coaching.

If O can stay squeaky clean for two or three years and elevate the line play while doing it, I think he'll be a strong contender for the job. Maybe there'll be an obvious home run available when the time comes but there just aren't that many out there.

More than anything next season, I'm looking forward to the intensity level that O will bring to the sideline. It might be just as important as his recruiting prowess.

Cam can run this program. Everyone put him on the pedastool whit what he did with Mett. Now he's garbage because of Jennings.

Jesus you guys have short memories...

Coach O is just not a head coach. Speaking of short memories, does anyone recall his tenure as HC at Ole Miss? While he might have grown from his mistakes in running the program there, and I would expect that he has, I'm really not anxious to hand him the keys to the car and find out. Excellent recruiter, no doubt. Good assistant, no doubt. HC, plenty of doubt.

Hopefully, neither man will ever be considered.

But especially not Orgeron - he's not a head coach.

Do you recall what he did at USC? Coach O is not the same guy that he was when he was at ole miss.

Cameron is Miles' butt buddy who hasn't been particularly successful other places

Orgeron hasn't even coached a game at LSU yet

Yes, he was 6-2 and the Trojans got their asses handed to them by UCLA. The USC administration had no interest in keeping him on as head coach and he didn't coach at all in 2014.

Seriously, so many people on this board make the guy out to be Nick Saban or Urban Meyer or Bear Fing Byrant.

If he was such an amazing head coaching candidate, why was he still available in January 2015? And why did he jump at the opportunity to be the D-Line coach at LSU?
