The Hyatt in Green Bay is moving a bunch of guests to the Hampton Inn for LSU/Wisc weekend. They are saying they "accidentally" left the inventory open when it shouldn't have been available. Of course they are charging the same rate. Anyone else with a reservation there get moved (or not)? Irritating because there were several other options available when we booked and I certainly wouldn't have booked the Hampton at the Hyatt rate.

I would be raising hell every day until game day until they fixed it

But I'm an a-hole with a lot of time on my hands.

We're staying in Milwaukee. We figured we would suck up the drive back on Sat night since we're flying out of there anyway. Plus, 4 star hotels for $150 a night downtown.

That's odd considering Hampton Inn is owned by Hilton.

That's what I was thinking. Hyatt isn't part of Hilton.

I think the actual properties are under the same ownership. They are just affiliated with different brands from a management company perspective. I called the Hyatt elite line and they said they couldn't do anything.

Did anyone one else get a notice of being moved?

Industry standard for a reservation that is unable to be honored should be a complimentary 1st night at whatever property they "walk" you to. I would press management for a better resolution and ask them to confirm Hyatt's walk policy for unhonored reservations.

Just file a chargeback ith your bank or CC company. You'll get your money back and there's nothing they can really do to stop it.

You'll have to rebook new reservations, but if you feel you got ripped off and think you can do better for the price if they won't issue a refund that's the way to go.

It takes about 5-10 minutes to do, and the success rate is close to 100.

Booked directly with the property through hyatt's website. Used the Costco member rate if that matters.

I can tell you what happened. As a Hyatt diamond I was able to force open a reservation before they closed reservations for all Hyatt elites due to "extraordinary demand". Hyatt plats and diamonds can force open a room and they will displace a non elite. Up to 4 times per year the hotel can declare "extraordinary demand" and elites can't force open a room. They usually won't pay notice to it once hotel is booked up and wait for cancellations to shake out. I imagine they way over sold if they are already moving guests.

But, by the time they did that for the lsu weekend, the elites probably pushed them over the edge. My wife is a platinum and was able to get a room as well as a couple of friends.

This isn't a walk. This is a booking error with advance notice. You won't get a free night.

its pretty far out, I would suggest bombing their Facebook with horrible reviews. If you are a reward member id call and tell them that you are dropping them from your business.

If they don't budge cancel the room and book at another hotel.

Also remind them how bad Harrys Ts felt when they fricked with LSU

bullshite, if he raises hell and publicly embarrasses them on their Facebook and other review sites they will offer him something to make him stop doing it.
