Before the smart-asses say touchdowns and field goals, let me make my point.

that's the issue for this team. last year we had a strong passing game to go with our running game and we moved down the field regularly with excellent 3rd down efficiency.

every team faces this problem almost every year in college, but this current staff doesn't have a track record that they can do it every year.

Miles, unfortunately, without the current staff, does have a record of many seasons without great offensive performance.

So I get why everyone thinks we'll lose 2-3 games. Since we don't run a gimmick run offense like Auburn or Georgia Tech, teams can stack the box and stop, to a degree, the ability of the team to move down the field just running the ball.

My thinking at this way too early stage of the season - this team will not only be efficient, but we'll have big-play ability from Fournette and the passing game. I believe our offense will be as good or better than last year. It'll be different, but it's going to be good.

Look for a rough start with some flashes of brilliance, and hopefully by mid-season we look really good.

I have lots of confidence in the big D this year.

I've heard that LSU will be running a more option-based offense with either Harris or Jennings behind center. Fournette is going to light it up, so you know he's going to be the center-piece of the offense. It doesn't hurt having Hilliard and Magee backing him up, so he doesn't have to carry the running game on his back. Losing Beckham and Landry will hurt the passing game, but we have some talented receivers, so hopefully they can pick up where those guys left off, which is easier said than done.

I think we're in for a treat in all honesty. A lot of our proven talent is in the backfield, so we might see some unique plays out of a split shotgun with Gordon on the line and two wideouts. It's still going to be ground and pound as always, but there will be a lot of little wrinkles in the offense. We saw it last year, when the TE would line up as a FB and FB would be TE and they'd switch. Similar wrinkles to that.

These. Combined with PATs and the occasional safety.

compare 2012 to last year

had hill, mett, obj, and landry and didn't come CLOSE to the offensive production of 2013.

I am going to tell you right now how this shite is going to go down. Bookmark it for future reference if you like.

By the end of game 2 (Sam Houston State), this board will have basically melted down after having been inundated with a number of threads which will basically say "We need to use these shitty non-conference games to work on our passing attack. There is no way we can be this one-dimensional and expect to beat Alabama, Ole Miss, etc..."

I have to disagree. I don't think our passing game will be great. We will run and run often. We will lean on our defense and special teams. The games will be low scoring with LSU pulling away at the end. We will have some games that are closer than they "should" be and probably lose a couple. Tiger fans will be up in arms because Les Miles won't let Cam Cameron run the offense and is under-utilizing LF.
