How Much Will It Cost to Buy a Bengal Tiger?

They way I see it, screw PETA. Raise the money, buy the Tiger and donate it to LSU.
Between the value donated for the new tiger and the $5 Million already donated to build the habitat, I can't see any reasonable basis to reject the gift of a new mascot.
If F.King and/or any other bed wetting, tree huggers try to object, run his arse off! (He was Jindal's boy anyway!)

A few weeks ago I thought they'd be no way in hell LSU wouldn't get another tiger after Roscoe. Now I'm pretty sure this will be LSU's last live mascot. The world is a much more pussified place than it was a decade ago.

It's just going to be much more difficult to get someone willing to sell one or donate one to LSU. There was a big article about it a few weeks ago.

It'll be difficult, sure. But I think it'll happen.

I disagree brother. While there are a ton of people in the world that are in the PETA crowd, there isn't a huge level of support for those folks here in Louisiana.
On the other hand, there are a great many alums that take great pride in LSU having a live mascot that scares the living shite out of the other team when Mike's trailer is parked outside of the visitors locker room.
I gotta believe that pressure likely to be brought by TAF and our more affluent and influential alums, will be very hard, if not impossible, for F. King and the Administration to ignore. My bet is that it will all come down to money, and PETA's interlopers don't provide any financial support to LSU.

In Advocate Smiley Anders column June 24:
Mike and Michelle?
Dear Smiley: If LSU decides to replace the current Mike, they may want to check out Tiger Creek Wildlife Refuge, off I-20 near Tyler, Texas.
The current Mike’s sister and brother are there (Sarge and Lily). They came from the Indiana refuge where Mike came from.
Not sure that Tiger Creek would be interested in losing the two tigers, but it would be worth checking.
If LSU could get both tigers, it might make for a better environment then just having one tiger in the big enclosure they have for Mike.
They have lived together at Tiger Creek, so having them together here should work out OK.
R.C.
Baton Rouge
And reply to PETA by LSU's Ernie Ballard after diagnosis:
On Monday, Ballard said the university is not yet searching for another tiger, holding out hope that Mike VI will continue to live for another couple of years with treatment. But if his condition turns, it would seek another donation of a tiger from a sanctuary as it has in the past, he said.

Now if LSU could build a caged ramp that circled around the inside of Tiger Stadium and a huge live habitat enclosure at the North end zone that would be the business.

Eleventy-two trillion dollars, comrade

I believe the last few have been donated, doesn't mean money doesn't change hands, but I think they were "officially" donated

Can't we rescue that poor Tiger at the Tiger Truck Stop on I-10. It's a win win. PETA would be so happy.

I thought there was already people lined up trying to donate us a tiger. Our tigers live longer, and healthier than every "wild" tiger.

The trouble with getting a new tiger will be less with PETA and money than it will with finding a reputable sanctuary from which they could get a cat. Unless they developed a breeding plan, they will supposedly have a hard time finding a source.
All that said, why not develop a breeding plan for the new cat? Mike VII could be responsible for spreading his mighty seed to lady tigers the world over ( ).

I feel like that was pushed by the administration.
Either to be heroes when they get one, or an excuse if they don't
I just feel like part of their job is to make stuff like this happen. They make so much bc it is hard, not bc it is easy.
You have almost unlimited funds (donation if required) find a damn way.
There has to be a loophole or some political donation some booster can make. If you don't feel like it I'm sure there is someone who can get this done.

I don't buy that. That article was put in place to take the blame off of the administration so when they decided not to do it because they dont want the PETA backlash, they have an excuse.

PETA will never be happy until every living animal dies in a natural setting. Either by killing each other or by starvation or by disease. These deaths are acceptable to them. A prolonged, safe, disease-free, healthy life is not acceptable to them.
