How much have we improved in hitting thanks to Andy?

I can't remember the actual numbers but yesterday it was mentioned that we lead the conference in hits. I have to imagine Andy has played a very important role in getting us there. It also seems like we've been very efficient as a whole with being able turn those hits into runs. This could become a very special season for this team. Can't wait to watch it unfold.

The couple games I have watched I noticed not as many fly balls.

I'm sure the new balls are part of the equation but it seems like we're hitting the ball way more squarely (is that even a word? ) this year

Was it hits or extra base hits? I thought they said extra base hits, but could be both.

Could have been extra bases. Which is still very refreshing to hear as well if that's what it is

I personally think Andy is responsible for the improved base running. It was quoted he spent a lot of time in the fall working with the guys on base running, and I believe we are near the top in steals, and I really haven't seen too many dumb mistakes on the base paths compared to years past.

The team is also striking out far less than the previous
few years.

There's def been a lot less "wtf were they thinking" moments so far. When we have been caught on the bases it's been bc we were being aggressive, which I'm ok with

You think it's too early to tell if we're better fundamentally?

It was a point of emphasis in fall ball for Mainieri.

The most impressed I've been so far was in the 8th today. We needed that extra run for some cushion, and the sequence that went down was awesome to watch.

We have a veteran lineup this year. It's only natural that we were going to hit better than last year.
