How long do you think it will take Bregman to get the call up?

What's your prediction? I'm curious as to how long people think he will hang out in the minors before the Astros call him up. I'm hoping he gets the call in his first year, don't know how likely that is though.

3rd year

1st year would be extremely unlikely unless he tears it up continuously and they have injury issues

3rd or 4th year. Easier for a pitcher to get called up early. Hard for a position player.

I hope you aren't counting this as his first year because there is absolutely zero chance he is getting called up in 2015.

Considering they have Correia and Altuve in the IF it will be awhile for him. They would need someone to get injured, start sucking, or for Breg to change positions.

This is what makes it so difficult to follow MLB. By the time guys get called up, you've forgotten about them. You see guys in the majors and you have no idea who the are or where they came from because it's been so long since they played college ball. I was a huge MLB fan for a very long time and quit following it after the strike. Been trying to get back into it and hoping to follow some Tigers as they transition. Kinda hard to though.

No way, he's not even there yet to start getting acclimated.

really it isn't I follow several minor league players just to see how they are doing. Occasionally I will even watch a game on TV and I go to Zephyr games.

Agree completely. This is a very silly thread because of that reason. I would think there is no way he will get called up before September of 2017, even that might be pushing it.

He isn't going to come in and mash like Kris Bryant or Schwarber.

I could see a utility type role for him or possible switch to the OF. But again, anything before 4 years is absurd imo as most people who get called up before 25 are absolute studs or the team has a need.

If he can translate around the same numbers from college to the minor leagues, I wouldn't be surprised to see him get called up in August/September of 2016, but mid 2017 is more realistic. Guys saying 4-5 years.. you really think it would take him to 25 or 26 years old to break in? 4-5 years for kids coming out of high school is about right, but out of college? It took DJ LeMahieu 23 months from the time he signed for reference.

I see Lowrie moving to 3rd when he comes back from injury and being traded in 2-3 years time to make room for Bregman at 3rd. Bregman is just going to have to get over not playing at SS if he is going to wear the Astros uniform.

Bregman isn't going to be playing third base in the major leagues.

Yup as that is probably the average for position players. DJ was drafted in 2009 and called up 2011, but then saw the minors again in 2012 and 2013 as he was called back down. The original reason of his call up was as an injury replacement/utility player since he played all IF positions.

depends on how Correia is hitting... if Correia is hitting the Lowrie becomes an expensive bench bat.

Bregman has to hit if he wants to play 3B with little power. He probably becomes a 10-15 home run hitter in the majors.
