How hard would it be for LSU to improve basketball?

If they were to make it a priority to be a solid basketball program. Bring in a top coach, and really invest in the program.

I'm talking consistently making the NCAA Tournament, at least 8 out of 10 seasons. With a couple deep runs in those 8 seasons.

Does Louisiana have the talent in state to make this happen? If not, could LSU be attractive enough to pull in top recruits from elsewhere?

I'm not talking Kentucky, Duke good...just a program that the fan base looks forward to. Seeing the people in the stands for this game is pathetic.

To get where we were under Dale?

Wouldn't be hard at all, if we had an AD worth a shite.

I agree that we should be making the tourney 8 out of 10 years. That's not too much to ask.

We need an administration that cares about basketball first.

Basketball was so fun during that final 4 run with D. Mitchell. Wish we could constantly have teams that were capable of making the tournament and making those types of runs.

I just honestly don't know how basketball recruiting is in the state. Don't know if it is rich enough to consistently have good teams.

Therein lies the rub. Capitulating to Dale and Collis ain't gonna cut it. That is not making it a priority, it's saying I'm tired of fighting these guys I'm gonna let them have their guy cause nobody really cares enough to prevent it.

A competent coach would have this team in the top 4 of the SEC.

Jones is a giant waste of time. It's clear LSU is NEVER going to be a serious contender under his leadership. Why waste anymore time?

The right hire could make this program a SEC contender pretty quickly. There are good players in Louisiana (hell, just in Baton Rouge alone), as well Tx and Ms.

I don't know but I'll be 35 next week, and I can still shoot, pass, run an offense and play defense as well or better than any of our guards except Blakeney.

I'll add that while I won't get many rebounds athe 5'10", I can at least put a body on someone and box out and make sure one of the opposing team's players doesn't get it either.

Yeah....no you can't.

I didn't make this thread to shite on the basketball team. I was more curious if we could pull off a consistently good team if we made the effort to do so.

Wanna bet??

Have you played college basketball in your life? Have you played major college basketball?

If not, you have no idea the gap in athleticism and talent than the average person. You might be an above average player compared to average joes, but you probably wouldn't be able to stand in front of these kids for half a second to guard them.

It would require hiring a competent athletic director who gives a shite about basketball. In other words, it is impossible for LSU.

You don't know what I have or have not done. You don't know who you talking to or what I did as a college athlete...

You're making a lot of assumptions about me based on the onew thing you do know about me - that I post on TigerDroppings, a fact that tells you nothing about me.

This is all certainly true. However, I was basing my assumption on the probability that you played big time college basketball. If you have, I apologize. And you May most certainly be correct if you have kept in shape and kept your bball skills sharp.

I can watch this LSU team on tv and think....Damn they suck. However, I couldn't personally be worthy of being that type of athletes ball boy.

LSU fans support a winner. Put a good product on the floor & they'll be there.

Agree with LSUsteve. Put a winner on the court and see how fast Pete's Palace fills up. Witness when Pistol Pete and Shaq were here in the past. Daddy Dale turned it around with outstanding recruiting. Agree with previous poster, we need a young enthusiastic coach.
