Does STATE have a good shot to win that regional?

I'm already expecting to see State again - which is totally ok with me.

They are really good. I think they are better, top to bottom, than State

They have a chance, but MSU has not been playing well for 3 weeks now. They've lost 7 of their last 10 games.

State is solid offensively and maybe defensively, NOT including pitching. They just don't have a staff to carry them through tournaments...too many injuries.

National stats ranking

That entire regional could get very interesting. UIC #1 defense and solid pitching stats.

Don't sleep on USM. They didn't play their best ball last weekend but those guys can play. They are designed to win in their park as they hit plenty of HRs.

They also have more pitching depth than state.

I think we see the Golden Eagles in the box for the supers

That #4 ranking for USM in Scoring does not bode well for MSU.

The fact that state won that many games when they weren't good at pitching or hitting is amazing. I'm basing these assessments solely on the national rankings from that link.

Yeah southern miss is very good. Good pitching and solid top to bottom lineup. This team is their best chance in recent years to get back to Omaha

USM is very good. They beat State earlier this year at neutral site, both teams treated it like a midweek game. Scrappy team that was in talks for National Seed until they lost championship game yesterday. Could be another Coastal Carolina coming into the box if both regional hold chalk.

I'd rather play State than USM in the Supers.

Good defense may translate into regional but pitching stats are misleading when they don't face the same quality of hitters.

If MSU comes for a super, I would not be surprised if they do what Auburn did and throw their Sunday johnnywholestaff against Lange. It has to be their best shot to win.

Tough draw for tigers.

Regional as easy as you could hope for. Super...not so much.

USM is probably #10 national seed behind U.K. if they were extended that far.

A #4 seed shoulda been matched with #13 theoretically.

If they would've simply switched Long Besch and Souther Miss that would've been a pretty fair 1-16 ranking

Geography trumped seeding here for sure.
