LSU coach Ed Orgeron had high praise safety Grant Delpit. Is he LSU's next great safety?

I was impressed with the glimpses I got. Dude will be massive when he fills out.

He stood out more than Stevens. Not knocking Stevens but apparently Delpit is every bit as good. Our safety position is in good shape

He was one of my favorite recruits in the last class, but he really looked better than I anticipated yesterday. IMG really prepares those guys for the next level.

He played great last night but let's not forget that we saw half of a spring game.

Who am I kidding? It's like Adams, Reid, and Dr. Casanova had a baby.

Stevens has a greater upside in terms of pro size and athleticism, but Delpit was
better prepared and had top notch competition at IMG.

I was worried about the safety position going into last night but not anymore.

Stevens has ridiculous ball skills too. He'll have a ton of picks during his tenure.

Good enough to run with the first team in a defensive backfield with no shortage of talent

Delpit seems that he has the talent to come up in run support and knock you out. He also can play center field with his range and speed. It's just rare to see guys that are really good at both. Stevens strikes me as very athletic and fluid but does he have that I want to knock you out mentality? I honestly don't know. Haven't seen enough of him. Either way, both are gonna be elite safeties at lsu

I dont wanna sound like a douche but I have been telling everybody I think he will be better than stevens. He attacks the ball carrier but also long and rangy. He will be one of those freak athletes who covers pretty well but like to help in run support.

Watch his under Armour highlights. legit

The kid is much more in the mold of Mathieu and Adams. Not a knock on Reid, but Delpit looked like the best player in the secondary yesterday. Kid has elite anticipation

The one thing that we simply don't have to worry about as LSU fans is our secondary. Heck, it looks like things are getting to the point where the entire defense is going to be 2-deep elite soon enough. It really just the front 3 that have to catch up at this point.

Did Eric Monroe not pan out how we though he would? No one seemed to be talking about him, but he was highly ranked coming out of high school.

How good is Grant Delpit?

Very

Is he LSU's next great safety?

Yes

I loved Jamal Adams, but watching Delpit this weekend will make me miss Adams a lot less.

Looked pretty good on Saturday. A freshman that makes plays on the ball downfield AND makes solid impact in the backfield. Yes, please!

Grant is an elite talent that will only get bigger and stronger over the next couple of years. This entire defense this year will be special. Devin White is a blur that crushes. The corners are fast and also elite.
