How far-fetched it would it be for LSU to run the wishbone?

Watching GA Tech, it makes me wonder. Would be a true wishbone so the halfbacks could run off tackle. Get road grader offensive linemen and big TE's. Consider the prospect of having Ducre at FB with LF and Guice at the halfback spots, throwing in DW and Brossette for good measure. After all, this is what Les wants to do. If GA Tech can be this effective, what can't we?

Notre dame box is difficult to defend against. LSU would be unstoppable

well if we are going to continue doing what we are doing we might as well go all in. I'm just hoping we get away from this pro style pound and ground offense and go to a more NFL type offense

Well we've got a spread QB running a pro style offense right now (and we seem to actually prefer that) and that's pretty far fetched.

Exactly. Up to this point, we've only had one of our great RB's on the field at any given time. In the wishbone, you could have three of LF, DW, Guice, and Brossette on the field for every play.

We actually ran a wishbone look occasionally in the eighties, with Hilliard, James, and Eric Ellington all in the same backfield, although it wasn't a true triple option package.

The athletes in the sec west would stop it and there would be no answer. That's why no one but a few teams run it

LSU has never ran a wishbone formation. Not one single time.

You are wrong about that, sir. I saw it with my own eyes.

not good for recruiting because it isn't as strong NFL prep I would think. Top recruits don't want to come to a system that has no translation to the NFL.

We might as well since our passing game is on par with theirs, and they attempt much fewer passes.

well if that is the case, I don't see how running a pro style pound and ground offense would entice recruits when no NFL teams are running that. The pro style is a style that has been out of favor in the NFL for years. We should shift over to what 12 of the 14 SEC teams (Texas AM runs the air raid and LSU runs the pro style) are running which is the 'NFL style' offense.

Theres a reason you don't see it much anymore. With discipline it can be easily stopped. It's only successful when the defensive players try and make plays instead of just focusing on their assignments

The best way to practice against it is to not use a ball.

The Wishbone was run by a number of big time programs in the early 70's but Les prefers 60's style offenses to 70's style offenses.

No. Honestly, we might have a decent QB and possibly FB (assuming it's Williams), but we don't have the other personnel for it.

The FB runs up the gut. Yes, Williams might be effective there.
The QB runs off-tackle. Yes, Jennings would be strong there.
The Halfbacks run on the edge, you design them to take the pitch and fly down the sidelines. We have ... nobody for that role; and you would need 2 to truly be good at it.

Fournette is great off-tackle, but that's where the QB would run. He isn't a breakaway back on the edge.

Our "speed" guys are our WRs, but none of them are WR/RB types. Dural has the speed, but 2 games of taking pitches and he'd be out for the season with injuries. Dupre and Quinn would be even worse at that.

Don't mention that anywhere around Les please. We are trying to get him to open the offense up more and here you come with a run only offense idea. Geeeeezzz.
