this defense could be better than last year and we still may end up with 2-3 losses bc of that schedule.

So this means what? What does 2011 have to do with 2013?

I'll never understand "rational" sports fans who say stuff like this. I have an Aub friend who told me every time alabama has won a NC in the last 20 years Aub would go undefeated the next. He honestly thought this fact would hold true in 2012. I'm all for optimism but come on

Why does everyone think the Schedule is so tough? Because LSU plays Bama in Tuscaloosa? LSU plays pretty well there. They won the last 5 out of 6 times they played in Tuscaloosa. We got Florida, A&M, and Arky at home. Quit your bitching. It's the SEC.

Les has u right where he wants u. Keep thinking we'll be badass and he will yank that pride right out of ur soul.

You cant say the LBs and D backfield will be better after losing minter and reid. The D will be worse next year and the chances that we miraculously have a respectable passing game even on the level of bama is ridiculous.....nothing in the past would suggest that.

Simple as I can see three losses next year.

So we would be "worse".

WTF are you rambling on about? Losing Minter is tough but people forget that Barrow put up All-SEC numbers last year too. Not to mention this is more talent @ LB than we've had in over a decade. As for Reid, I love the kid but he became a liability last year. He just couldn't adjust to having to be the QB back there. The guys behind him are actually quicker/more athletic. We'll be fine.

On to the offense. We showed glimpses of greatness last year. If Cam can harness some of that and get Mett to somehow get comfortable in the pocket (realize we had a Frankenstein o-line for most of the year last year too) then next year could get really special in a hurry.

I tend to listen to the Chief, and he seems to think we have something special so until I see it for myself I will go off his opinion

The offense across the board should be much better

Agreed.

our secondary should be better

Maybe better at the corners and not as good at the safeties? A wash, I would guess.

our lbers overall will be better even with the loss of minter.

Agree slightly, although Minter's loss is huge.

that basically leaves our dline

Yes, the most important part of the defense.

quote:

Freak, rascoe, Danielle, Jordan, macklin, ferguson, Thomas plus any new recruits like Herron or beckwith.

We have a pretty long history of replacing great DLs with more great DLs. We simply have to hope that continues.

How exactly are we going to be worse?

Young, unproven defense. Unproven, though more experienced, offense. New offensive coordinator. Questions on special teams. How will Hairston do as full-time PK? Will he even BE the full-time PK? How will the new punter perform? We have a lot of questions. Generally, some questions get answered well, others not so well. The more questions you have, the more you will have that aren't answered so well...generally.

The schedule will be hard, but when does LSU have an easy schedule?

Never, but four top-5 (or so) teams is a bit excessive, even by LSU standards, and it's not like we can just forget about all the others either. TCU, Mississippi State and Ole Miss will be challenging opponents. Even Auburn or Arkie might make some noise.

quote:

We get aTm and Florida at home for gods sake.

And Bama and Georgia on the road. Your point?

quote:

We can win every game.

There hasn't been a season since 2000 when that wasn't the case. It's not a question of "can", but "do". We always "can", we never "do".

I see 2013:

Alabama and aTm 2 certain losses

UGA probably a loss

TCU, FLA toss up

Prob another screw up in there with a young team

8-4 is best case scenario but prob 7-5

I won't be very popular with this prediction but its how I feel

I think we'll be a good bit better as a team than last year.

I bet the offense will be as good or better than it was in the later part of the season (after finally establishing Mett and Hill), and I believe there will be a lot better focus.

You must be new to these parts! When we suck the chief will say we are coming along, when he thinks we are good he will say we have something special or something to that effect
