Is Minter above and beyond what Perry Riley was out of LSU? Faster? Stronger? Coverage skills? Run stuffing Skills? Perry Riley has done pretty good for himself in Washington.

I would believe Minter would be rated much higher than where Riley was. I'm not sure if Riley would have been rated higher that Sheppard and I know Minter will be rated higher than where Sheppard was.

Always thought he was better than he performed at LSU...not saying he sucked, but I thought he had a future in the NFL. They are probably pretty similar but Minter went off last year which bumps him up on the boards.

I think Minter may check in a tad shorter than Riley, but their other physical measurables will be about the same. Minter obviously is a tackling machine (though Riley wasn't a slouch) so I think he gets the nod on productivity in the run game. neither really stood out to me in coverage. most I remember from either was the INT Riley got along the sideline vs UGA in 09 to end the game.

wow, didn't realize they listed him at 6'0". he was 6'2" at LSU and 6'1" at the combine per NFL.com.

well then, I think they may measure out roughly the same, height and weight wise.

Pretty similar size, but Minter seems a little faster and more explosive.

While at LSU, Riley was a good LBer, but he wasn't always around the ball like Minter seemed to be.

The thing Minter has is vision. He accounts for the ball carrier very well and finds lanes to attack through. I think he's going to be a tackling machine in the pros much like he was at LSU. Had he stayed next year, he'd be the best LB in the country IMO.

Considering Minter is projected as a late first round pick I would say he is regarded higher than Riley's third round section.

However I know real stats to compare either player's college career.

Same size. Riley is or was 6'2" at LSU. But in any case we'll find out Minter's true size at the combine. Sheppard was listed at 6'3".

Riley was a 4th round selection, Sheppard was a 3rd round pick.

Riley was big time underrated and has shown what he can do in Washington. Their defense was very good and Riley had alot to do with that.
But Minter is the best MLB that we've had at LSU in quite some time, if not ever. He will go to many pro bowls if stays healhty and lands with the right club.
